Who would ever think that I would get the "piggy flu"?? Yet that's exactly what happened to me, and right now, I feel like a whole passel of pigs ran over me! *Groan!* LOL
Got sick earlier this week; felt so bad, I had Sarah take me to the Emergency Room. Doctors diagnosed it as swine flu. It might be a milder case, but I still feel like he**!!
Coughing my head off, chest hurts from all the coughing, congestion, feverish, chilled one minute, boiling hot the next. I can't seem to get comfortable. At least the nausea and diarrhea have abated; that I am most grateful for! Whatever the docs gave me at the ER worked! LOL
I am banished to my bed: no contact with Sarah (unless she masks and gowns up, of course), and forget about seeing the kiddies. Sarah's playing Miss Mom/Miss Nurse/Miss Caretaker while I am abed with the piggy flu.
I don't understand it: I was never around any pigs, so how in the world did I end up with the swine flu?? Go figure!!
Sarah did tell me a joke the other day. If I didn't feel so bad, I'd laugh; it was pretty funny. It goes like this: Question--How can you tell the difference between bird flu and swine flu? Answer: With bird flu, you get "tweet"ment; with the swine flu, you use "oink"ment.
*Groan!*
I will have to tell that to my co-workers once I am well enough to return to work at the hospital.
Until then, I'm banished to the bedroom. Seems I spend more time there than in any other area of the house, especially lately!
It's bad enough being sick when you're not a member of the medical field; seeing I'm a doctor, I've learned what it's like on the other side of the charts! And doctors sometimes make the worst patients! LOL
Xavi, Emily, Brooke, Promise, and Mwugu have managed to escape the flu, as has Sarah; meanwhile, poor Rheese has the swine flu. He was in the hospital for over a week; he's now back home. And now I have it; if I start coughing up blood, it's back to the hospital. Doctors say the swine flu has been causing blood clots/lung damage; people have been coughing up blood or have been having dyspnea (difficult breathing).
I haven't really had a lot of trouble breathing, but I am using my oxygen, just in case. And so far, no coughing up blood; I pray this continues!
Heard that eight of Louie's kids had the flu: four had the piggy flu; four more had the "regular" flu. They were all in the hospital last week; most are now back home. Two remain in the hospital; they'll probably be there until sometime next week. For a time, Barbara and Arjun were so sick, they ended up in the PICU, on ventilators, to help them breathe easier. Now they're out of the PICU and are eating again, and probably feeling much better, which is good news.
The flu has also hit our church family hard: last Sunday, just before I got sick, over half of the congregation was out with the flu or various other health problems. Even our head pastor, Bruce Bilkey, has it. I will have to do a lot of heavy duty praying, not only for myself, but for Louie and her family, as well as a good number of our church family at Christ Community Assembly of God!!
Today, my neighbor, Arleta Jones, is taking four of the five kids out for the day: she is taking them out to Chuck E. Cheese for pizza, then to the movies; then probably to the mall. I won't see them until probably just before nightfall. God bless her! Meanwhile, Sarah will stay home with her two sick men, Rheesie and myself.
I am going to go now; Sarah is going to see if I can eat some soup to help build up my strength. Right now I feel as weak as a wet teabag; I can hardly hold my head up! It's awful!! And poor Rheesie keeps crying because his nose is stopped up; it's hard for him to breathe; he's really miserable!
I will write in here again soon, prabably when I am feeling better. Until then, this is Wayne Wright signing off! Take care, and may God bless you always; say a prayer that Rheese and I get over this piggy flu!
Thanks in advance!
~Wayne. :( *Achoooo!* *Snif* (Sorry!)
