Dear One And All~

Greetings in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ!

This is your friend, Tim Delcambre', writing.  Thought I would update y'all on some things.

As you know, the flu (swine and otherwise) has hit a good deal of our congregation very hard.  Many have recovered; others are in the process of recovering or still very sick in the hospital.

Barbara, Janica, and Arjun Sandusky, Henry Thibodeaux, Ryan Carson, Wendell Crabtree, Tyson, Precious, and Pernetta Gibson, Gladys Ritenauer, and Izzy Rossovich are all out of the hospital, just about over their recent bout of the swine flu.  Most were quite sick; we didn't think some of them would make it; yet by God's grace, they did, which has been a huge answer to prayer.

Unfortunately, some aren't faring as well.  Oraste Nunez and Adames Ferrera remain critical; as for Nevaeh Grace Prentiss, she, unfortunately, passed away yesterday.  She was only 20 months old, just a little thing.  Found out about it only yesterday when I called her parents; they are understandably devastated.

Meanwhile, Brandy Milner and Wayne Wright continue to recuperate; they probably won't be back to church for several weeks, until they regain loss strength; last I heard, both are very weak as a result of this flu.

In other news, our annual Fall Harvest Festival is coming up fast: it's next week; it's going to be held over a period of two days.  We have already recruited quite a few volunteers to help out get the area ready; we can always use more hands.  We have the MacGruders, the Kevin Spencer Family, Ronee' Le-Anne Reaux, the Sandusky Family, Grace By Design, Rebecca Lou Davis, Prophetess Delayna Covington, and others who will be singing/sharing the love of Christ with the festival attendees. 

We still need tons of candy, soft drinks, bottled water, other food items (nonperishable) that we will be sending to children overseas (Africa mainly, but also China and India, as well as to children here in our nation who need a helping hand), toys, and more.  We want to ensure we have more than enough for the expected crowd of 50,000+ people that are expected to come in a two day period. 

Hopefully the weather will co-operate; we are praying for sunny and dry conditions, so our festival doesn't get ruined!

In a few weeks, we will be feeding our Veterans with a sit-down dinner/tribute, as well as feed our city's poor with Thanksgiving dinner (we will also do this again near Christmas).  We look forward to big crowds for all three "dinners-on-the-ground".

Our Kings Kids Children's choir as well as our adult choir/worship team sound good as they continue practicing for our upcoming Cantata and children's Christmas play.  We have been sitting in on some of their practices, and quite a few of them seem ready to perform even now, even though Christmas isn't until a little over a month from now.  They are all doing a very good job; I am very proud of our music ministry team and our children.

I am going to have to go now.  Have to call the local FTD florist to get a floral arrangement for the funeral home in memory of little Nevaeh Prentiss, and continue to lift her family up in prayer during this incredibly hard time in their lives.  We are all reeling with the news; suddenly this swine flu seems more terrifying than ever!  We will have to continue to lift up those who are ill and pray for God's protection on our families/our church staff, so none of us become ill (especially now with our Fall Festival being next week)!
