I find it hard to believe that it has been two years since our daughter, Korina Grace, joined our family from Vietnam. It seems like only yesterday when she was a scared, shy little moppet who spoke very little English: now she talks practically nonstop, and she is very outgoing; she is a little social butterfly.
We also have more reasons to be thankful this Thanksgiving holiday: we have added Mordechai, Emmanuel, and Kesogo from Africa, and Alyssa from Russia; in addition to that, I have a brand new niece, Lilyanna Xie, from China (she is my sister Gloriana's child). So our family has grown from just three kids (Kensington, Khristmas, and Kaylie) to eight kids!! Yarg! AND I get a niece as part of the package deal!
Another big thing I have to be thankful for is the fact that Lily survived major heart surgery. She is still in the hospital as I write this, but she's now out of the Intensive Care unit and will probably be home next week, if all goes well, and there are no complications. So far she's done excellent; we are extremely pleased at the miracle that God's given her (and us)!
It's been a rough few months, but it finally appears that Lily's turned the corner. Hopefully in a few months she will enjoy renewed health; she looks so much better than she did when she first came!
We will probably go to my mother's house for Thanksgiving. She lives in Warner-Robbins. We will probably have a choice of turkey or ham, stuffing, mashed potatoes (or yams), choice of salad, peach (or cherry) cobbler, creamed peas and carrots, cranberries, and green beans, and for dessert, a choice of lemon meringue, pumpkin, apple, or cherry pie. Yum; I'm getting hungry just thinking about it!!
The kids will be off school from tomorrow until a week from tomorrow; then they will go back next week, on Thursday. Which gives them plenty of opportunity to run off the turkey and all the trimmins that they consumed during their Thanksgiving meal! LOL
The day after Thanksgiving (Friday), we plan on being at the mall bright and early, so we can take the children to see Santa Claus. For Kensington, Khristmas, Kaylie, and Korina, it will be familiar territory; for Emmanuel, Kesogo, Alyssa, and Mordechai, it will be a brand new, exciting adventure.
Note to self: make sure you bring plenty of batteries for the video camera, and DON'T forget the camera!!!! LOL
The weather here in Georgia has been stunning: pristine blue skies and temps in the sixties to seventies; just superb. While the leaves are now barren of their leaves, it is still a cheerful time because the Christmas season is approaching, and Christmas has always been one of my favorite times of year.
Well, Emmanuel, Kesogo, and Mordechai are fighting again, so I'd best separate the boys before they spurt blood all over my nice clean rug I just had shampooed on Monday! I will write in here again soon; until then, Happy Thanksgiving, and have a most wonderful Christmas/holiday season! May it be full of blessings from above!
