Dear Journal~
Hello from the Far North Country, land of snow, igloos, grizzly bears, and northern lights!
It's just li'l ol' me, Jenna Aurora Doucet. Hope this finds you well! I am about to get into the Christmas mood: Michael and I are going to decorate the house and put up the tree today. I know the boys will be excited; they know that Christmas time is coming up quick; it won't be long before Santa Claus comes to bring them toys!
We have some exciting news: I am pregnant!! Found out by accident (plus I haven't had my monthly visit in a month, which was probably a big clue!); that means by this time next year we will have three children instead of two! That means our boys Kenai and Mattaq will have either a little brother or sister to play with! (The baby is due in August, the way things stand now.)
I personally hope we have a little girl; we already have two small boys, and it would be nice to be able to buy some little-girl clothes, dolls, or toys! :)
Michael would like to have a little girl as well. So the vote's been tabulated; I pray our wish for a little girl comes true ! That would be fantastic!!
It's hard to believe that Hallowe'en and Thanksgiving are overwith. Now Christmas is staring at us in the face; where did the time go so fast??
I have been spending time with my sister, Jerrica, who is recovering from a bad car wreck last month. A drunk driver ran a stop sign and plowed into her Surburban head on. The driver was killed; meanwhile, Jerrica suffered a broken back. She is not paralyzed, thank the Good Lord, but she faces a long and painful recovery. It's been hard on all of us; Jerrica and I are so close; we always have been.
It's hard on me, seeing I have only one good working side myself. Not easy to care for someone when you have only one good working arm and leg! Thank God for Michael; he's been a godsend in Jerrica's (and my) time of need!
We've been watching Jerrica's kids; the boys have been having fun playing with their cousins. I'm just glad I don't hear the kids' noise; maybe being deaf is a blessing in disquise??? ... :)
Her kids are here now; they will probably stay with us until after the first of the year; then they will go back to their mamma's house. At least we have the extra help!
After we get the house decorated, we will probably take the children to see Santa; then tomorrow, we will take them to see the Holiday Parade of Lights and then the lighting of the Christmas tree, followed immediately by a ten-minute fireworks display. That ought to be enjoyable; this is something new the parade committee came up with.
Next Saturday our church is having a Christmas party; the day after (Sunday, the thirteenth of the month), the church will have their annual Christmas Cantata. Then, on the 16, 18, and 19th, we have friends' parties to go to. So busy times are ahead for the Doucet bunch!
On Sunday, I plan on doing one thing: getting the Christmas cards ready to be mailed out by Wednesday! I want them to be out before the 10th; looks like I just might meet that goal! Hope so; things have a way of cropping up unexpectedly ...
The weather here in Anchorage is cold, cold!! Clear and sunny, but bitterly cold. Doesn't really bother me any (as I am a Native Alaskan!), but poor Michael is sure complaining to beat the band; he hates cold weather! Well, it was his decision to move to Alaska, NOT mine! (Or maybe it was! LOL Can't remember! LOL Gettin' old, Jenna! LOLOLOLOLOL)
Well, I am going to go. It's time we get started on the decorating. We'll probably be doing it for the next three/four hours at least. We will then go shopping and take the children to see Santa.
