Dareen here. I'm the one who has been keeping y'all abreast on the status of young Caden Drew Bollinger, the little boy who was burned by some teenagers a little over a month ago.
I still don't know why he has to suffer so much: he's already suffered in life as it is, having to live with severe cerebral palsy that left him wheelchair-bound and unable to walk or talk. Now he fights even harder, as he has been burned over 80% of his body; some teenagers attempted to set him on fire because they had "nothing better to do".
Shame.
At last report, I heard that Caden suffered seizures yesterday when his fever rose to past 104 degrees, which means he has a massive infection somewhere in his body. He is in a drug-induced coma, and there's no telling whether he will survive this latest setback. He is still in critical condition; doctors are still unsure as to how he will do.
He will probably remain in the hospital for a very long time to come.
A fund has been set up for Caden's family, to help pay the medical bills that are sure to be astronomical (if they aren't that already). Donations have also been pouring in so the other children can have a Christmas, as well as the parents. They could use some joy in their lives; they don't plan on celebrating Christmas because right now their minds are on their injured family member because he just might not make it to Christmas if problems keep cropping up.
I continue to lift Caden, Julie, Charlie, and the other two kids (Ashlynn and Eagan) in my prayers, each and every night. Churches around the Nashville metro area are also praying for this precious little boy; they are praying for a miracle, especially now that the Christmas holidays are upon us.
What better time to ask for a miracle for this child than on Christmas??
That would be an awesome thing, no doubt about it!!
Well, I will go. I have to get ready, so I can visit the Bollingers at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital, then meet some friends for lunch afterwards. I will write in here in a few days with another update on this little guy. Keep those prayers coming; I (and the Bollingers) really appreciate it! Thanks in advance!
