Rosie Irene Tate continues her story. Like many people this time of year, she is looking forward to Christmas. (The Tates are neighbors to the Sandusky family.)

Hello from the Tate bunch!

It's me, Rosie Irene.  Been busy trying to get the house ready for Christmas (and trying to keep our daughter, who has special needs, out of the presents LOL).  Hope you are having a most wonderful holiday season; we sure are!

Next week starts our kids' Christmas break from school.  They'll be out for two and a half weeks.  They are really looking forward to it, especially our two oldest:  that means spending time skating on the pond in our backyard, riding their Flexible Flyer sleds in the snow, and having snowball fights.  Noa, meanwhile, is looking forward to one thing, and one thing only:  a visit from Santa Claus!

She knows it can't be far:  the Christmas tree, the brightly wrapped packages, and the music are dead giveaways, as are the songs about those jingling bells, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, and Santa Claus.  She is excited beyond belief!!

Doug (he's my husband) took the day off today so he can work on getting the Christmas lights up on the house.  I pray he doesn't fall like he did last year.  Last year he was putting up the lights, and a gust of wind blew him off the roof.  He suffered a separated shoulder and a broken clavicle.  He spent 11 weeks in a cast, even had to have surgery.  It was really bad!

Our neighbor, Fred Reichart, is helping him, as is Porter Sandusky.  They are making progress; they'll probably be done within the next hour and a half, the way things are going.

Noa Graciela has told me she wants several things for Christmas:  a new dolly.  A buggy for said dolly.  New dresses and pretties for her hair.  New shoes.  Some picture-books.  (Little does she know she's getting them; she will be so surprised come Christmas morning!)

Wyatt and Kennedi-Joy, meanwhile, want the "big guns" for Christmas:  a Wii game system as well as a new cell phone.  Well, they're getting the Wii, but no cell phones.  For one thing, I don't approve of them; to me they are nothing but a big distraction.  I'd rather talk to a person face to face than to have a cell phone glued to my ear!  As for text-messaging, forget it.  Again, I'd much rather talk to a person.

The kids are at school:  Wyatt and Kennedi-Joy are at the high school while Noa is at the elementary school, in the Special Needs class.  It's nice and quiet, with only Doug and myself home (although right now, I'm by myself, thanks to Doug putting up the outdoor Christmas lights).  We also have our dark-brown Havana cat, "Twister", who is sitting on the computer table, watching me type this down.  He is content:  he is purring happily.

The weather here is beautiful:  bright, wall-to-wall sunshine, and a projected high of 35 degrees here in the Nashville metro area.  A little chilly perhaps, but that's okay:  winter will be here in a few weeks, as will Christmas.  That's about right.  :)

Seems hard to believe that just a few months ago, we were looking forward to Hallowe'en:  now Christmas is in fifteen more days; just a little over two weeks from now.  Then in three weeks it will be 2010.  A brand new year.  *Sigh*  Where does the time go so fast??

Well, Doug's calling me, so I'd best go.  I will write in here again soon; may each and every one of you have the merriest Christmas and the happiest New Year's Day ever!  God bless and talk to you later!

~Love, your friend in Tennessee,  Rosie Irene Tate.  :)
