He was in a new house with a criminal who had conveniently taken away part of his living quarters. He still had his bedroom but could not cram even half the boxes he had in there. He told his ex-wife and brother to load the boxes in the garage and help him move the furniture into his bedroom. Adam must have been getting every individual hair removed by tweezers by the amount of time that had passed. 

When he finally returned Joe was almost finished unpacking. Adam saw the look of anger and frustration on Joe’s face. Adam was so nervous he began to break out in hives. Joe didn’t say much other than, “There’s no room for any of my stuff except for the garage.”

Adam, looking like a little boy who just had his ball taken away, nervously replied; “I’m sorry Joe, but I didn’t have any time to make room for your stuff.”

 ‘But he sure the hell had the time to find a convict to move all his shit into the house, all the time knowing Joe’s stuff would be left out in the garage,’ Joe thought to himself. He already knew from the divorce class he had with Adam that he was a big talker and not much else.

 

Joe sent Paul off with 20 bucks for a case of beer. Connie stuck around awhile longer and eventually drove off in that depressing faded yellow moving van. Eventually he settled into his bedroom exhausted from the physical and emotional demands of the day. His bedroom was right next to Adams’ and Johns’ bedrooms. John was also recently divorced. Three divorced men under the same roof. This was going to be interesting.

 

As Joe unpacked that evening he contemplated his future. He thought about dating again. He had only been on two dates since his divorce went through the courts almost a year earlier. He was petrified. He had no idea where to go and what to do to meet women. He wasn’t much of a drinker but would rather die of alcohol poisoning, than sit around in a bar listening to beer stories. Not to mention the stench of cigarette smoke that would stay on his clothes for hours after leaving the bar. His ex-wife gave him her old beat-up computer and Joe thought about hooking it up. He also pondered the idea of Internet dating. He heard about it from some of his friends who had some strange encounters. But nothing could prepare him for the bizarre encounters he would soon experience. The loneliness and desperation he would feel from the strangers he met on the 25 dates he would go on this year made an indelible impression. When the lonely gravitate toward one another using the Internet as a medium, unexpected things can happen.
