Guadalupe' Angelica Maria Theresa Rodriguez De La Cortez of Miami, Florida, continues her story.

Hola, vatos y vatas!  Como esta usted?

It's me, your amiga, Guadalupe' De La Cortez, of Miami, FLorida, writing!  Hope this finds you all doing well:  as for me,  I'm doing great; can't be better!

'Course it helps being off school for winter break.  Been off for the last one-and-a-half weeks; have until Wednesday to go, then it's back to the grind.  *sigh*  Been having too much fun hangin' out with my friends or going to the beach before the bottom fell out and now it's cold!  Temps here in the upper fifties to mid sixties; that's cold for Miami!!  Brr!  I get cold if the temperature dips below 65 degrees!

Did you have a nice Christmas?  Boy, I sure did.  Got a new computer (laptop), art supplies, books, CD's and an mp3 player, a new Wii game system, clothes out the wazoo, shoes, underwear and socks, gift cards for Wal*Mart, Fashion Bug, Teen Scene, Taco Casa, Jack-in-the-Crack (what I call Jack-in-the-Box), Black Eyed Pea, and Half-Price Books, and new hair thingamajigs.  I made out like a bandit, as did mi hermanos y hermanas!

It would have been a little nicer hadn't abuelo Diego had a mild heart attack.  He just got out of the hospital on Sunday; he had it Christmas night.  They kept him in overnight and part of the next day to make sure all was well.  Guess Christmas was a bit much for him, don't you think??  In any event, it scared us when we saw the ambulance come and the pareamedics working on him.  We were so sure he was going to die, but he didn't.  He's now okay, although a bit weakened.  He will probably be weak for a little while; it is going to take time for him to get over his spell.

While mami y papi were at the hospital with abuelo Diego, I stayed home and tried to entertain mi hermanos y hermanas the best way I could.  I soon had them laughing to beat the band after we got into a serious game of MadLibs.  They absolutely love that game!  I had them howling with laughter so hard I was sure the neighbors could hear us!  LOL

Soon the worries of abuelo faded from view; then the phone rang.  It was mami calling from the hospital.  She said abuelo Diego was pretty sick, but he was going to be okay; it was just a mild heart attack.  He would have to learn to take it easy from now on.  With abuelo Diego, that is going to be awful' hard to do:  he's always been something of a go-getter, a real macho hombre.  :)

When abuelo came home on Sunday, I cried, I was so happy!  I was never so glad to see him looking more like himself!  It was the happiest day of my life!!  Now we make sure he doesn't overdo himself, and we don't let him lift a finger:  we do everything for him!  LOL

After abuelo came home from the hospital, I went to see my girlfriends.  I had to get out of the house; I was going stir-crazy!  Guess time got away from me 'coz mami called; she was worried about me.  I didn't get home until 11 on Sunday night.  I didn't get into trouble, but I did get a stern warning about watching the time; mami said the next tiime it happens, I would be grounded.

Uh-oh!  Better mind my p's and q's next time around!  LOL

It was nice getting away from the house, though.  LOL

Well, I'd best go.  Abuelo is calling me; he wants me to bring him some breakfast.  He also wants me to bring his wallet, so he can give me some dinero, so I can walk to the store near our place and get him something to eat; he's sick of hospital-issued food!  LOL  I will write in here again; until then, have a wonderful New Year; hope it's your best year ever!  God bless and adios!  Hasta luego!

~Amor, tu amiga, Guadalupe'.  :)
