Tottie writes in her journal while being camped out at Sydney Harbour, waiting for the fireworks and evening festivities, to commence to ring in the New Year.

31 Dec., 2009,  Sydney Harbour, Sydney, Australia~

G'day, mates!  (Actually, it should be good arvo; it's in the arvo here, 'bout five thirty in the evening as I write this down.)  Bobbo and I got here several hours back, in the hopes of getting a good spot for the fireworks, which will commence the new year.

Tottie here.  Bobbo too.  We do this every year; we go to the Harbour to celebrate the New Year.  Hard to believe that 2009 is nearly history, but it's true .  Soon it will be 2010, in only a matter of a few short hours.  I just pray/hope that 2010 is a better year for everybody!

This year was a bad one for storms:  we had some rippers; some were so bad lives were lost, and there was a lot of damage to property and homes.  We also had horrible fires, and it looks like this year might be a repeat performance.  Only December:  summer barely getting started, and it's already in the nineties outside.

There are big mobs of people here: so many, you can't see the landscape.  Bonzer sight, that!  At least 3 million people converging on the Harbour to celebrate the coming of the new year!  Some get pissed, but the police are out in full force, to take care of any drongos who crack the shits or go mental.  LOL

Just got the car back from the shop:  Bobbo had a bit of a bingle last week.  A boomer hopped out in front of it at the last minute; Bobbo couldn't avoid him.  Nice big dings and the duco was marred.  Thank God that's all it was!  Bobbo wasn't hurt but can't say the same for the boomer.  LOL

No more nasty run-ins with funnel webs, thank the Lord:  been avoiding 'em like the plague.  Had more than enough of those nasty arachnids to last the rest of me life!!  (Got bit earlier this year; spent time in hospital.  It was not fun!!)  'Course, it helps getting our place sprayed every month during the spring/summer months.

Bobbo chuck a sickie today; doesn't have to go back to work 'til Monday.  (He'd been working heaps of overtime, so they didn't mind him taking the time off.) A nice long weekend to enjoy each other and spend time with mates.  We may go to Bondi Beach; was planning on going on Chrissie, but it rained.  Remnants of Lawrence visited Sydney and gave us overcast, cool and rainy conditions.  A nice break from the usual heat of summer.  Still overcast today, but the rains have moved on, thank the Lord.  So maybe it will get the fireworks off with no probs.

I'm doing well:  okay, as well as can be expected, considering my health ain't the best.  LOL  Bobbo, meanwhile, no worries.  :)

Thought I was preggers, as I missed my monthly, but false alarm.  Dangit; I'd love to have a little nipper to take care of!  We'll just keep trying; that's the fun of it, right??  *grins*

I heard from me mate, Shyanne, who lives in Darwin, in the Northwest Territories (clear across country); haven't heard from her in yonks!  Last time I heard from Shyanne was way back in June, when she got back from holiday.  She went to the States to see her mum, who lives in Utah.  I heard from her last week; she been thinkin' of me, so she gave me a ring.  Nice to hear her voice; I've missed her heaps!

Got a nice Chrissie card from Louisiana Sandusky in Tennessee:  she was one of my nurses when I was in hospital several years back.  She sent me piccys of the family; I still can't figure out how she does it!  All those kids; it would drive me wobbly!!  LOL

Her kids have really gotten big!  Seems like only yesterday when they were li'l nippers!  LOL

I want kids, but not that many!!  LOL

Ah, shit.  Starting to sprinkle; hope the rains hold off.  We got prime spots for the fireworks, and we're not movin' from this spot!

Bobbo just came back with a tinny for both of us.  Sweet of him to think of me.  LOL  Sounds good; only beer we'll have for the whole night.  We're not big drinkers; besides, I'm on meds and walk with crutches!  LOL  Wouldn't do good to get pissed!  LOL

He would have been back sooner, but he ran into one of his mates from high school,  Darwin Jirwulurr; they got into a major earbash; time escaped both of 'em.  Was starting to get concerned, but then he came with the tinnies, so I'm not too pissed off at him.  LOL

For a minute, I thought he was turnin' into a larrikin or something!

I swear, Bobbo acts worse than a bogan at times!  Drives me mental!  *argggh*

Ewww, gross!  Someone just yorked up their plonk right 'side us!   Now we gonna have to go elsewhere!  Nasty, that!!  Stupid hoon!!

Well, on that note, I'd best go; turnin' a li'l crook in me belly, so I have to go before I do a technicoloured yawn right in me chips and yabbies!  Until later, take care and Happy New Year!  May it be your best year EVER!!

~Love from Sydney, Oz,

As always, your mate, Tottie Ruth Brighton.  :)

Been to Port Matthews not too far away from Darwin, and I would have given a wide berth to anybody named Shyanne! (sounds like a second hand car salesman, LOL)
