There´s a group in power today and this is the way they operate. Everything and anything anyone of them finds that is good, of taste and value, useful or necessary, they remove off the public market and put into their own establishments. When they are walking down the street, impeccable in their implanted bosoms and laquered nails, big cars, hair beautifully coifed, they look respectable and leisurely. And in truth they didn´t have to work to gain their wealth. Their wisdom and knowledge was bequeathed to everyone in their group by their cult leaders and taken from everyone not in their group. If there is a disease going around, I notice that all non members can become exposed to it, but members are given antidotes. If there is a talented designer being introduced, then his styles are taken from the public department stores and put into the special stores they patronize, etc. In this way, they are lifted up in social status above the common herd. And likewise those not in their group find shopping harder and find themselves subject to increasing poverty and decreasing opportunities. They give an impression of leisure and the impression that “keeping up” is easy. But this is an illusion. This story is about them. Their group is called the “Meanies,” ruled by an Asian emperor.
THE TALE OF QUEL:
A MODERN MURDER MYSTERY
Once upon a time, while driving to a conference, I took a detour and ended up in the world of Meanies, sometimes referred to as "In-be-tweenies."
I checked into a hotel, which became a House of Mirrors.
It is here that Quel, the evil trinity, from ancient times, who consists of The Leader and his two Siamese Twins, sits on a throne in a high and low place and gnaws on the bones of children right in front of our face.
Quel, who, a respecter of persons and not of man, like a pile of sand, having once descended, no one is able to lift again.
In the World of the Meanies, all meanies go trampling, in their beautiful refinery, up and down on all of the greenery. The population all use "time-share" housing. Their poisons are all called "time-release" remedies.
At the back of the town is a gigantic Screen, on which projections of shadows are cast to be seen. What about the town's dimensions? At first I thought this place was a town but it really spreads out all the world round.
What about the Meanies' ambitions? The Meanies are into Demolition. The Meanies owned the Time-Weenie Newsies. When it comes to the truth, though, they aren't very choosy. They operate like a computer virus. Their strategy is as accurate as a law of physics. They can penetrate most social groups. And any social group they penetrate, they attack. But no other social group can penetrate them back. They achieved tremendous effect, on a shoestring budget. Their only three weapons are an airplane, a caligrapher and a mental interrogator. Their airplanes emit mysterious green light, capable (if not reflected) of either healing you or killing you at night. Also capable (if you had no sperm) of either fattening you or flattening you.
In the World of the Meanies, perfect crimes are conceived and brought into the world like swaddling babies. A perfect crime is when one is able to make a gross moral wrong look right. Here is one tale of a "perfect crime" and it goes like this...it's called the crime of The Weeping Whore and Her Missing Baby:
One day an unmarried couple and their little boy drove into Meanie Town and bought a beautiful house. But Quel learned of this and decided that their house was the place for him.
"Those, who work for a house, live, all their lives, like slaves. Those without rights, who gain the house through murder, will have nothing to pay," he thought. "But those who should, by blood, inherit it, get in the way."
Quel sent for the Caligrapher. "Write me a Tax Bill of $2,000,000 to be sent to the woman and sign it, "The Tax Collector."
When the woman received the bill, she began to weep.
"Send for the Mental Interrogator to learn what she is thinking," commanded Quel. "Tell the Tax Solutions Agency, where at least half of the employees are my very own Meanies, that she is coming and tell Genial Meanie to give her a clean bill."
Everything went accordingly and according to the Mental Interrogator, the woman usually shopped at the Little Store of Pickovers on Buyer Street in preference to the Little Shop of Leftovers on Beggar Street. "Since her- being-unrich-but-not-of-poor-taste means what she can do, also Meanies can do, then we Meanies can always put ourselves in between her and anything she wishes (or used) to do!" thought Quel. "Tell the Meanies to do their shopping there from now on and to keep an eye on her. Any product she chooses remove from the store's inventory and add to our own inventory. Tell Genial Meanie to meet her there."
In the pause of manners in verbal exchange or in the space between nations or between man and man, the Meanies can insert themselves in the gap. In their schools of salesmanship, they train their newcomers not to waste any bit of the tongue's agility and how to glide their tongues along the roofs of their mouths in such a way so as not to leave untouched any point of its surface-- the secret of serpents!
Soon Genial Meanie became the woman's new lover. But Genial Meanie had a twin, named Menial Meanie, who stood in for his brother from then on.
Quel told all the Meanies to spread the news around that the woman is cheating on her boyfriend. "Since slaughter is our only means to attain the highest place," thought Quel, "all men around us, we must regard as lower than the human race." "Turn on the projector," Quel ordered. On the Screen in back of the town appeared the huge shadow of the The Leader. And the town shook with fear.
So the couple broke up and the woman ran away with her boy and Menial Meanie, who secretly planned to kill the baby. One day while the woman was washing her hair, she discovered afterwards, that her baby was missing. "Where is my boy?"
"I gave him to Fred Meanie, who drove by," said Menial Meanie. "He said he would take him to a shower, excuse me, a birthday party around the corner."
"You better pick him up now," said the woman.
Menial took the car but came back empty-handed. "I searched everywhere but can't find the house."
Now here is what happened. When Menial drove around to look for the boy, he knew he would find him on the sidewalk and he drove away with him to kill him. [And he did not have to worry about witnesses, for all the houses in the neighborhood were on time-share basis and were occupied , for that week, by Meanies.] But when he came back to his girlfriend, he lied and said that he hadn't found him.
In solving their crimes, remember this rule: In the space between you and the victim a Meanie (in disguise) came through.
And Rule of Thumb: Don't ever, for a Meanie, pass on an anthrax-letter meant for somebody else, e.g. "Als jullie naar Nederland willen bellen eerst 119 dan 0031 of 31 en dan de
rest..."
It soon became clear to all around, that the woman, having not cared enough for her son, had lost him and that, without the boy, there was no reason for her to inherit the house. (But the mother knew that (just the other way around), if not for a house, maybe her son would not have had to have been killed. But who can raise a son without one?)
It was as if, after every evil act they did, the Meanies could say, "There is enough left-over of this meal of flesh to make a small topping of ethical one-up-man-ship soufflé."
After the scandal died down a little, Quel sent out his airplane over the home, where the father lived still. The little green light was put to "Kill." After two weeks, the father got ill and oon died. And then Quel sent for the Caligrapher (also known as the Forger) to write up a command to Search the Premises. Sign it, "Your Leader."
This is a political treatise that deals with the China issue from a completely new perspective. Disparaging as he may sound, from page to page, toward "the old system" and the Communist Party's various wiles, the author demonstrates his mysteriously
