Sunshine Lee writes in her journal; she feels vindicated because some people have teased her about her heritage and the fact that she was adopted when she was a very young child. She came to her family from Vietnam, along with her twin brother and her older sister.

Thursday,  January 7, 2010, Nashville, TN., 5:40 a.m., C.S.T.  (SNOW DAY!!! NO school today!!)~

Dear Journal~

Hey!  Sunshine Lee Sandusky here.  I hope this finds y'all well; I'm afraid I'm not so hotso.

I've been rather depressed.

Some kids at school have really been ragging on me about how I look.  I see nothing wrong with how I look.  I look like a typical (but rather tall) 13-year-old Oriental girl who is a little on the skinny side!

I guess it's because I'm adopted.

I have never had a problem with it; why do some bozos have to always make such a big deal out of it?  The family I live with (the Sanduskys) are the only family I have ever known; I don't remember my early life in Vietnam, where I was born!  Neither does my twin brother, although Starlight does to an extent (she's our older sister by four years).

I have read up a lot of the culture of Vietnam; even tried nuoc mang, which is this fish sauce that we get at the specialty food store that carries hard to find foods from other lands; my older brother, Anh, loves it.  So do I.  It's good!  I can speak some Vietnamese, but it's only because my older sister and brother taught me.

I can speak enough Vietnamese to get into trouble.  LOL

I aww nothing wrong with being adopted!!  I think the family who took us in to be their own is wonderful; not many people would have done what they did:  take in abandoned, older, or racially-different children who were deemed "unadoptable" because of age or disability.  Most of my brothers and sisters are indeed disabled, some quite severely, as in the cases of Todd, Jodie, and Johnny.

I think of my family as being heroes; they have been featured on the local news and in newspapers for what they've done.  :)

I'm rather proud to be adopted:  it sets me apart from a lot of my friends, and the family I have have raised us right, with strong morals, convictions, and beliefs.  I think I am a lot better off because I was adopted!!

No school today, so I don't have to worry about Jo Donna Hendricks and her group of "Jo Donna wannabees" picking on me again.  Snow day!  Oh, boy, did we ever get a "snow day"!!  A foot of the white stuff on the ground, and it's still coming down, with winds howling to forty to fifty m.p.h.!  Blizzard warning!! (Ya think??)

I just wish Jo Donna and her pack would get a life; I don't need any more aggravation!!!!

Christmas was good, but it was hard not having Lightning or her family here from Colorado.  They didn't come because Lightning and her husband, Darnell, were having marital problems (since resolved).  Dwerlina, Anh, and Steffi did come, though, as did Johnny's biological brother, Erick; it was great seeing 'em all!

I got some great stuff for Christmas:  Sweet Honesty perfume, Teen Spirit perfume, new clothes, shoes, socks, and underwear, new hair doo-dads, some drawing paper, ink pens, markers, and crayons, some new books about vampires (I love reading scary stories!!), money, and gift certificates to Olive Garden, Black Eyed Pea, Appleby's, and Golden Corral, as well as to Wal*Mart, 1/2 Price Books, and Barnes and Noble Books.  I made out like a bandit! :)

Now we're back in school again; seems the two and a half weeks we were off for Christmas break just flew by!!  Now I have to put up with stupid Jo Donna and her group of "Mean Bees" all over again and feeling like a zero because of their constant picking on me!

I have tried repeatedly to ignore them but they make it virtually impossible.  I wish I could turn into a magic fairy and make them disappear ... forever!  I simply detest those girls!!

Well, since I don't have school today,  I am going to go back to sleep; I don't plan on rising before noon or one in the afternoon!  So on that note, good night, all!  It's bedtime for bonzo!!  God bless; love ya!

~Sunshine Lee Sandusky.  :)

Karen,

Nothing better on a snow day than to crawl back under the warm covers and dream about a day when all will be accepted. Well done. =]

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
