Hey, it's me, your little weather-crazy buddy froom Atlanta, Georgia, Spinner Regan Patterson, writing! Hope y'all are doing well; I'm doing great!! :)
Santa Claus was really good to us kids this year: I got a 1-year subscription to StormTrack magazine, $200 in cash, some movies on Blu-Ray DVDS ("Shrek III", "The Search For Santa Paws", "Bolt", and "Twister"), new clothes, underwear, socks, and new shoes, writing paper, pens, pencils, and markers, new games, and my big present, a brand new laptop computer! (My old computer died; this is why I haven't been able to write until now.)
Hoo-wee, has it ever been cold here!! The temperature got down to about five degrees last night! Any water on the roads or on sidewalks have turned to ice, making driver hazardous in some spots. Our pipes froze, and so we don't have much water pressure; gonna have to wait 'til the sun thaws 'm out and warms thiings up somewhat. Didn't have school yesterday because the electricity there was out; they had no power. So we got an extra day off on our weekend!
Now it is 2010; that means storm-chase season isn't far away. Usually our severe weather gets crankin' 'round March or April, but we can have bad weather anytime of the year here down south. Last month, we had some bad weather come through, along with tornadoes (tors). It was pretty scary, but our place didn't have much damage, thank God! All we got was some shingles blown off and our power'd gone out for a few hours, but everything else was okay.
My poor brother, Carston Stryker (he's four), was scared, as was my little sister, Maeli, who's six, but I wasn't, no, not really. I loved the sound of the crashingly-loud thunder claps, the hail beating against our house, and the sizzle of lightning as it zig-zagged overhead! I also loved the sound of the wind and the rumble of the tor as it passed directly overhead. (I saw it; it was cool!)
Our family is fine: mama, daddy, my brother, Carston Stryker, my little sister, Maeli, and our Uncle Twister, who lives with us. They had a good Christmas too, but I think Uncle Twister got the best Christmas: he got a brand new 2010 van that is handicap-friendly; that means he can drive it, even though he is in a wheelchair! He was so happy he cried!! So were we; that was nice whoever got that for him! Now he can go chase those bad storms and maybe bag a tor or two!
He said I might go with him. I hope so; there's nothing more thrilling to me than to be in the middle of a storm, watching it from our vehicle! And we can warn other people, so they can be safe!!
