Charles Quigley updates us on his sister's status, as she continues to recover from peritonitis. She is doing better, much to his relief.

G'day, mates!  :)

It's your friend, Charles Quigley, writing.  Hope this finds y'all feelin' aces; I'm doing good, and me sister, Meegin, she's feelin' somewhat more like herself, especially now that she is out of hospital.

Every day she's up more and more; the biggest prob she has is when she coughs; it still tears at the surgical site on her belly; her belly hurts when she coughs.  She's still gettin' winded if she does too much, so the doc is continuing the oxygen for at least another week; she wants it off yesterday!  LOL  She's actin' more and more like a wounded wombat, so she must be feelin' better!  :)

Meegin is still pretty weak, but is doing more walking, which, in kind, helps build up lost strength.  She goes to therapy once a week now instead of two days a week; when she's not there, I am her personal therapist.  I make sure she gets up and walks or sits up in the chair.

She's been a little depressed because she's homesick for Sydney.

I have been trying to cheer her up; even set 'er up an account at Facebook, as well as one at YouTube.  As she recovers, she can watch vids and laugh to her heart's content.  And that way, when she leaves to go back home to Oz, we can keep in touch via computer, on her days off from the bank.

I think that would be a good thing for her to do.

The way things look now, Meegin will be staying with me until the end of February, which means another month of picking on her.  :)  Hey, I'm her brother; I'm entitled to pick on her and act like a hoon!  LOLOLOLOL

At least she doesn't have to worry 'bout jellies or salties when she's here with me!  No salties or jellies here, 'less you go to the zoo or fishtank.  :)

When she came home last time, she brought me a beautiful, handcarved boomarang that a cousin of ours in the Bush made.  I have it hanging up on me wall above the kitchen.  She saw it, and she immediately broke out into a big smile.  (Yeah, we're part Aborigine.  Aboriginial people were the first to settle in Oz a long time ago; they're Native people.  They're Oz's answer to the American Indians.)

Meegin and I lived in Darwin as children (and before I moved to Sydney in the late 1970's); I then left Oz and have lived here in Nashville, Tennessee, for the past ten years.  I love it here, but I do go back home to Oz about every couple of years, just to catch up on me mates and old times.

Or she comes and sees me.  I just didn't count on her going crook on me and ending up in hospital with her belly split open!  :/

It's bonzer to hear people ask me:  "Where are y'all from?"  They seem to love me Aussie accent, but if they want to hear a real Aussie accent, they need to listen to me sis, Meegin.  Now she has a great Aussie accent!  I've lost some of mine down the roed ... sound more'n'more like one of them Tennessee hicks from the country!  LOL

People tell me Strine is like a foreign language:  they don't know what in bloody 'ell I'm talkin' about when I talk about Vegemite, boomers, the Outback, the Bush, or wallabies.  LOL  But I do!!!!  LOL

Well, Meegin is calling, so she must have just woke up.  I will write in here again another day; 'til then, this is Charles saying take care; I'll see ya down the road!  God bless!

~Charles.  :)

The piccy:  That's Monster, me 20+ pound Maine Coon.  Isn't he a love??  He is exactly that and so much more!  :)

~C.

My little sister always was hiding back me, I was her protector against my brothers shenanigans or our whimsical parents!

That's what I always told my sister, and my parents - but they didn't buy it!

As for Monster, he's pretty cool!
