Charles Quigley lets us know how his younger sister, Meegin, is progressing since getting out of the hospital nearly two weeks ago. She is visiting him from Australia, where she lives.

G'day, all!

Charles Quigley here.  Thought I'd let you know how me sis, Meegin, is faring.

Meegin is getting stronger every day; the pain at her surgical site (on her belly) is lessening, too.  The therapy (physical and occupational) seem to be making a world of difference; the old Meegin is emerging, and it is most awesome to see!

Meegin is also eating more; helps that I have a stash of 'roo meat and Vegemite on hand!  :)

Meegin might get the oxygen off on Friday; depends on what the doctor says.  She is tired of having to wear it.  She doesn't wear it all the time:  she just wears it when she's winded or at night, when she goes to bed.  She hopes this happens; I do too; I hate lugging tanks everywhere we go, or the portable oxygen system!  That is a pain in the arse!

The bills from her hospital stay are starting to arrive.  They are simply outrageous!  Over $145,000 (WITH a $45,000 discount)!  Simply ridiculous!!  Looks like I might have to get a second job, so I can pay for those bloody bastards!  Sheesh!!

Meegin will probably be leaving to go back to Oz at the end of next month.  I know I shall miss her terribly when she goes back; it'd been yonks since I saw her last (two years or so ago??).  She's here now, though; might as well enjoy her while she's here!  (I just didn't count on her getting crook on me right before Chrissie!)

We had our Chrissie last week.  Meegin loved the stuff I got her.  I got her some books, new nighties, warm slippers, some new bathing suits, some perfume (Jennifer Lopez's Deseo; that smells so heavenly on her!!), some blank video tapes, some CD's of music (she loves Marco Borsotto, this bloke from Holland; she also loves Andrea Bocelli and Loretta Lynn; she has an eclectic taste in music, she does!), and gave her $50.00 (which she will probably convert to Oz money when she goes back home, to her job at the bank).

I know it's January, but we had our Chrissie late.  Wanted to make sure me sis was feeling aces before I did it.  :)

Had me Chrissie tree up 'til last week; people looked at me like I was daft when they'd come to me house 'cause I still had the tree up!  LOL

Now I'm going to have to get used to seeing a plain house again ...  :/

She got me more Vegemite (what a lovely thing to get for Chrissie, eh??  LOL), some books about me old home in Sydney (God, how I miss Sydney!!), some money (which I will convert to American dollars when I get to the bank tomorrow!), some Stetsen men's cologne (me favourite!!), some books by Clive Cussler, James Patterson, and Richard Paul Evans, and some gift cards to Wal*Mart and other places.

She got me one for Outback, but I told her that it wasn't authentic Aussie tucker.  I don't like Outback; I'd rather have the real thing, ya know??  That's why I count on me sis to send me stuff from home or wait 'til I go to Oz meself to see Meegin.

Well, Meegin is calling me, so I'd best go.  I will write in here with another update.  'Til then, this is Charles saying toodles!

~Charles.

"...The bills from her hospital stay are starting to arrive..." and the American people wish to it to continue as it is? Who can afford it? Why we should pay 5000 dollars for a service that only cost 50? Why we have given reins free to the money mongers?
