Raun Elijah is having a hard time of it: his gradmother died last month of Alzheimer's disease.

Raun Elijah Thiele here.  I'm afraid I'm not doing very well.

The kids have stopped teasing me (that part is great), but I am still very sad.  Y'see, my grandmother died last month.  She had something called Alzheimer's disease, which took away her memory.  She became like a little child again; it got to where she didn't know us any more, even though we were her family.  Eventually she couldn't do anything for herself, and she died in her sleep.  She was 83 years old.

I loved granma very much; she and I were very close.  Before the Alzheimer's disease took her mind away, she used to call me her special boy; she didn't seem to mind that I sometimes smelled.  She always found ways to make me smile, which I appreciated, and whenever I'd come home from school in tears (due to the other kids making fun of me), she would always give me the best hugs!

I didn't go to the funeral, but mama and daddy did.  So did two of my sisters, because they were "of age"; they were old enough.  They said it was very sad.  Maybe it was a good thing I didn't go.  If there's one thing I don't like to see, it's seeing dead people lying in a coffin.  Maybe it's because I watched too many dracula or frankensense movies.  :)

Anyway, Tierra and Tanya (they're my oldest sisters) saved me the obituary from the paper; it had granma's picture, and that way, I can have something to remember my granma by.  I have it sitting on my dresser next to my bed; I look at it every night before I go to sleep.  Sometimes I cry all over again, but I know that she's in Heaven, with God, Jesus, and all the angels.

I also know that she got her mind back; she can probably remember everything since she was a little girl!  So now I have my very own guardian angel, who watches over me as I sleep at night.

I bet that angel (granma or otherwise, just in case it isn't her) keeps the frankensense monsters away because I haven't really had any nightmares.  That is a very good thing!  :)

My other two sisters (Milea and Gabby) and I, meanwhile, were watched over by my daddy's brother (our Uncle Mike) and his wife, our Auntie Yolande.  They made sure we behaved while our parents, Tierra, and Tanya were away at the funeral.

My granma was my mama's mom.  Thought I'd like for you to know that, so you wouldn't become confused while reading this, my story.

Anyway, the weather here in Oklahoma has been bad!!  We've had a lot of snow and ice; we just got our power back on a few days ago, and we may get more snow and ice next weekend, according to the weather guy on tv.  I hope not; I'm sick and tired of staying inside!  I want to go outside and play; no, I want to see the sun again!!!!

Yesterday was Ground hog day, but the groundhog didn't see his shadow, so spring will be coming soon.  I hope so; I'm sick of winter!!!!

Well, I gotta go and do my homework, so I will go now.  I will write in here again soon; until later, this is Raun Thiele saying so long!  Talk to you soon!  Bye!

~Raun Elijah.  :(
