Howdy!  This is your little friend from Texas, Kata Danae', writing!  Hope this finds y'all well and happy!

I have been busy performing with my family's bluegrass/country band across north Texas.  We even went to the America's Got Talent tryouts last weekend in Dallas; we have a shot of making it to the show!  I am so excited!!!!  It was a lot of fun!!

We are still trying to see if we can go to Tennessee, to Nashville, to see if we can go on the Grand Ole Opry.  Mama has been calling the Opry to schedule us; so far, nothing's happened.  Maybe the Opry is too busy to hear us sing??  (Hope not; playing the Grand Ole Opry has been a huge dream of mine ever since I can remember and started singing!)

I had a great Christmas; Santa Claus was very good to not only me, but my brothers Kasey and Kentucky, and my older sister, Kaylie.  I got a brand new guitar and fiddle (those were my big gifts!), a new cowgirl outfit for when I'm on stage, new boots, a new hat, dolls, some video games for little kids for my computer, clothes, underwear, socks, and shoes, books, and even some money!  I made out like a big shot!  Boy, did I ever get the LOOT!!!!

It was good seeing my cousins, Trevor, Travis, Trinity, and Taylor from Houston; they spent Christmas with us, as did Grandpa and Grandmaman Fitzhugh, who live in Louisiana.  We had ourselves a good, Cajun-style Christmas.  The food was yummy; I ate so much crawfish my belly hurt for three days!  LOL

Thanksgiving was good, too.  We went to Louisiana, to see Grandma and Grandmaman; while there, we went to a Cajun place to hear Cajun music; that was neat, especially when they taught me how to dance the Cajun two-step and waltz.  I had a lot of fun, and the band that played was sooo good!  I love Cajun music nearly as much as bluegrass:  it tickles my tummy, and makes my feet want to dance!

I'm part Cajun on my daddy's side.  I'm also part Irish, German, and Choctaw Indian.

I look more Irish than anything else, what with my bright red hair and freckles on my cheeks.  :)

I am prayin' like thunder we get to make it to America's Got Talent!  I sooo want to be the next Kaitlyn Maher!  (I can't put David Militello 'cause I'm not a boy!  LOL)  It'd be cool if we got to go on there!!

Well, I gotta go. I have to eat breakfast, get ready, and then go to school.  I will have to tell Miss Penny all about the tryouts last weekend; she'll be impressed!  Maybe she will have a future singing star in her class:  ME!!  :)
