Sidney Yance continues to recover from his recent bout with pneumonia; he is feeling a little bit better.

Sidney Yance here.

I am feeling a little bit better:  not great, mind you, but better than I did when I last wrote.  Am spending more time out of bed, but I get tired easily; at night, I still have to use the oxygen; same goes if I get winded (which is often, it seems).

Dr. Pratt and Nurse Godzilla continue to keep tabs on me; both are pleased at my progress.  I am pleased, too, but I am getting sick of being sick, y'know??

My little sister, Maddie, is driving me crazy!  She is three, but acts more like a one-year-old.  Whine city!  And into everything!!  I wish mom would take her to work with her!  I also have a little brother, Joachim, who is five, but he's with grandma for a week; he needed a break from Maddie (and mom didn't want him catching my pneumonia).  I told mom I wasn't contagious; she didn't listen.  It's not like I have a raging case of the plague, y'know??  Pneumonia isn't contagious unless it's viral; I have the bacterial kind.

Still, it's bad, just the same.  I'm so sick of coughing my brains out it's not even funny!  Then the doctor gave me a fun little device called a spirometer:  you put the end of it into your mouth and breathe in as hard as you can and see if you can raise the little blue ball that's in there; the higher the numbers, the better.  It promotes coughing; every time I use it, I cough more than usual; it's really a pain in the meOW!!

I have to use the spirometer every two hours, around the clock.  Which means I don't get a lot of sleep; it's no wonder I'm so sleepy!  Between doing the spirometer thing (and coughing), I don't get any rest!  How in the heck am I supposed to get better if I don't get enough sleep??  It's ludicrous!

I am sooo ready to go back to school!  Yet I am still under Dr. Pratt's care, so until he releases me, I stay put here at home.  I hope he gets me off the oxygen therapy soon; I hate having to stick those prongs up the nose and smelling rubber all day long!

I am taking so many pills to knock this bug outta me it's a wonder I don't rattle!!

Well, I am going to see if I can eat some soup; I'm getting a little hungry.  Stomach's talkin' to me!  Hopefully I can eat it all; lately, my appetite's been terrible; the meds I'm on just don't do it any justice!  I will write in here again soon; hopefully I'll be doing even better than I am now.  I must be feeling better; mom and dad both say I'm acting worse than a wounded tiger!  LOL

Take care and God bless; talk to you again!
