Alaska, here we come!!

Tomorrow we leave for fun and adventure on the high seas:  we fly from Nashville, Tennessee, to San Fransisco, California; then we fly to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, and then fly to Anchorage, Alaska (that will probably be on Tuesday).  We will then depart for two weeks on the high seas; should be fun (not to mention, very cold!!)! 

We are going on this cruise to celebrate our fifty-first wedding anniversary.  That is on Saturday, March 13th.  Hard to believe that Gar and I have been married for fifty-one years!  It seems like only yesterday when we first met; fell head over heels in love with the dashing young red-haired man with the twinkle in his eye!  :)

I wish we could take our kids (Bridget, Thames, Bryce, and Shay) or our ten adorable grandkids (Cassidy, Austin, Braxton, Shayla, Giovanni, Rochelle and Raylene [they're twins, as are Austin and Braxton], Heather, Ophelia, or  Ricky) with us on the cruise, but this is "grown-up time"; we need a break from our family!  LOL  I also wish we could take our furry baby, "Sweetie-Pie", with us, but more'n likely she'd hurk on the ship; she has enough trouble in the car; poor little thing is car sick.

Whenever Gar or I take her to the vet's, we have to give her something to settle her jumpy stomach, or else we'd have an awful mess in our car to clean up!  :/

In any event, not to worry about "Sweetie Pie":  the kids will keep an eye on her, as will our neighbors; her needs are covered.  That way, Gar and I can have fun and not worry about anything.  They will also take care of the mail and will stop our paper delivery until we come back from Alaska.

I know I will miss everyone from church.  Good thing I am going today; that way, Garfield and I can say our goodbyes before we embark on our Alaskan Adventure, and everyone can wish us a good trip.  I know some tears will probably be shed; I always get emotional before we go on a trip; I love my church friends so much!

The weather has been beautiful as of late here in Nashville:  the spring flowers are coming out; just the other day I saw my first daffodils in the yard.  The sight of them made me smile; spring is probably my favorite time of the year.  I also love fall, but fall always makes me sad because everything dies.

After church, Gar and I will probably go out to eat (Olive Garden today; love their breadsticks and salads; Gar will probably have lasagna or chicken cacciatore; too spicy for my sensitive stomach!  LOL), then to the park, where we can then people-watch.  People-watching is one of our very favorite activities to do.

We are already packed (suitcases are by the door, as is my wheelchair; will probably need it), so we can just relax and enjoy the day, then count down the hours until we leave for Alaska!! :)

Yesterday, we got a nice card in the mail from Louisiana Sandusky, one of the dearest ladies from church who always thinks of others before herself.  She sent her good wishes in the card; she is very sweet.  Just a kid; just barely in her forties.  She's younger than my youngest child!  LOL 

Well, Gar just waltzed in, rubbing the sleep from his eyes, so I'd best get coffee/breakfast on before we get ready for church; first service is at nine.  I will write again, probably in a few weeks, after we get back from our trip.  I can hardly wait!!  This is exciting; I have always wanted to go to Alaska; now we have that opportunity in just a day from now!  It's coming up fast!!
