It was the eternal summer of her soul
which mesmorized me--
a shiny shimmering--
which glowed in the day time
and at night emitted golden light
we played among the fireflies
on the veranda where we sat
sipping ice tea
in the Carolina smoldering,
smoky
evening;
where magic lived and crickets chirped,
where
she stared me full in the face,
where an overpowering innocence radiates
across short space
between her look
and my paralyzed contenence;
where I was transfixed by her sky blue heart
revealing to me the very face of God
looking out,
looking through me-
unflinchingly
unapologetically,
unselfconsciously,
unjudgementally;
her soul-being scaling my
my Guarded Hidings,
fearful steppings
into
that daytime-at-night
her gaze presented;
my hand rise to my face protectively
protecting against her nakeded look
she unaware;
a look which malde me quiver
she taking my hand
warm lips and a gentle kiss
searing my retreating soul--
unthawing for an instant
my Gnarled Soul
frozen cold over time
out of touch
with
Innocence's
Innocence
rivening
those too dead parts
which had lost sight
of light
sound renting;
parting the night
sounds of
my own
gentle weeping.
