You might not remember the name, but that's okay. I know it has been a very long time since I last wrote; please do forgive me. Life has a way of happening in ways you don't expect; it certainly did that to me. Hope you understand.
For general purposes, let me introduce myself. My name is Cynthia Louise Phelps. It was Dawson, but I'm now married and have children of my own. I'm also a born-again Christian; I accepted Jesus Christ into my heart when I was thirteen years old; my life hasn't been the same since.
I used to live in Nashville, Tennessee; when I was thirteen and a half, my family and I moved to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Vancouver was where I met my (then) boyfriend, Weston (he's now my husband; we've been married for two years now). He is very good to me; in fact, it was he who led me to Christ; I owe him a lot of thanks because I was a very bad kid. (When I was younger, I was something of a bully.)
I am a Canadian citizen now; got my citizenship papers two years after I arrived here from America (my neighbor down south).
You may remember that Vancouver recently hosted the Winter Olympics. We went to a few of the venues (figure skating and women's hockey); it was quite unforgettable, especially when we saw that young lady from South Korea winning the gold medal; she was absolutely flawless!
Anyway, Weston and I are parents now: we have two children, two boys, ages two and one. Their names are Braxton Daniel (the two-year-old) and Blaze Denton (the baby). They are the lights of my life; I am enjoying being a mother. This is something new to me; I love every minute of it!
It seems funny now that I used to be such a pinhead. I used to be mean to kids; didn't matter if they were black, white, brown, red, tan, or yellow, rich or poor, handicapped or not: if I (or my co-horts) found reason to pick on them, we did, and maliciously at that. We were terrible! Now we have since learned our lesson (at least I have), and I have since asked my (former) victims for their forgiveness. After all, Jesus forgave me; it is only right that I ask those that I hurt in any way forgive me for my transgressions. And they have, I am happy to say! :)
While I stay home with the boys, Weston works; he works for the Vancouver police; he is a dispatcher. He's done this now since 2006, four years now. He loves it, and he makes pretty good money, so we are not struggling. We are able to live comfortably. These past four/five years have been the best of my life; it is only by the grace of God that we've been able to live like this; He is first and foremost in our lives besides our children (they're #2).
The kids I hung around with are no longer in my life. I have since forgiven them, but I still see a counsellor; I suffer from depression and nightmares from all the torture/teasing I (and my co-bullies) inflicted on people when we lived in Nashville; it's starting to make a difference, and I am starting to move past that point in my life. Jesus is healing my heart and my mind; it is a slow, ongoing process, but the counselling is working!
Well, Braxton and Blaze are both crying (they want their dinner), plus we have to get ready to go to the evening service at our church, so I'd best go. I will write in here again soon; until later, this is Cynthia Phelps saying so long and God bless!
~Love, your friend in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, Cindi (Cynthia) Louise. :)
