Have you ever just watched the skies? It is the ether that mirrors infinity. Calling it the “heavens” is truly apt, for I think the skies represent a wonderful portrayal of what heaven will be like, never the same, forever pregnant with the fullness of newness.
I love to watch the sky as it shifts and change with each moment that goes by. Lying under a shade tree in a hardwood hammock in the everglades I watch the sky for hours in its display of formations without form. I know that sounds strange, but when you really think about it what we see is simply air being constantly reinvented by moisture.
However, when I consider the chemistry involved, it gets tedious and complex, and before I realize it, the beauty is lost and I miss out on the subtle nuances of God's finger-paintings. So, I watch this fantastic display and just bask in the simplicity of its concept and manifestation as God’s poetry being written for all his creation to see.
Now what is my point in saying all this? It’s simple. When I sky-watch, I let go of the intellect and simply submerge myself in the changing scenes. It’s an effective form of escape therapy for me. It is a time of being alone with God when he speaks to me through my intuitive perceptions which he controls. If you have never done this, try it sometime, and let me know what you think.
