Last Mother’s Day, a starving, forlorn, homeless feline that my wife and I took in, gave birth to four wondrous offspring. And in the course of the last year, her four precious babies have brought both of us, so much joy. Although this feline mother had nothing, the diligent love and the totally unselfish care that she gave to her four tiny kittens, was marvelous to behold.
This Mother’s Day was a very sad one for me, since I recently lost my own loving mother; but the following story managed to brighten the day a little for me:
The black and white female cat pictured above has been named – Kate. She, too, was a discarded and homeless creature, fending for herself on the mean city streets; and she, too, was pregnant.
Kate was eventually rescued by a kind-hearted soul, and she was taken to the North Shore Animal League. There, she gave birth to five tiny kittens, and according to the staff, she is truly an outstanding new mother. The love and care that she has been giving her five newborn babies is also marvelous to behold.
Very sadly, America’s animal shelters are now overflowing with both adult cats and newborn kittens, these extremely sad days. So many people are still abandoning their own pets, and so many people are still callously refusing to have their own pets spayed or neutered. They claim to love animals, but yet they seem to care very little, or not at all, about the millions and millions of pets being born homeless and unwanted in America, today.
Shortly after rescued Kate gave birth to her own five offspring, a tiny, orphaned, calico kitten was brought into the shelter. There was very little hope for this starving newborn’s survival, without his own mother.
But luckily, little Kate’s motherly love seems to have no bounds. She immediately took pity on this tiny new orphan, and she quickly began nursing it, and loving it, as ‘one of her own.’
Now, Kate was diligently mothering six, instead of five newborns. But amazingly, six tiny kittens to care for, have suddenly now become - seven. Mother Kate has just taken yet one more needy, motherless, extremely fragile orphan, under her extremely loving wing.
Please help us, to help them; please spay and neuter your own pets.
And please support your local animal shelters, so that many more of these homeless and abandoned creatures, can finally find the loving homes that they all truly deserve.
