A man continues to blame his problems on God.

Image (C) 2010, Karla Dorman.

Things remain about the same.  Still at our home, but for how long is anyone's guess.

And my wife continues to do her churchly work while I, more or less, sleep in.  Don't want to have anything to do with God; I no longer associate myself with Him.  All He's done is bring me nothing but misery and misfortune.

I am looking for employment; every day, I pound the sidewalks and streets, hoping to see that magic "Help Wanted!" sign; if people are hiring, all they want is kids (teenagers) or Mexicans/illegal aliens.  That's all they seem to hire; meanwhile, a middle-aged guy like myself, with boucoup experience, no longer matters.

If ya ask me, I think they've got their priorities screwed up bad!

Everyone continues to tell me to "trust in God", including my wife.  I've told these idjit people that I no longer believe in Him; how much more do I have to keep telling them this??  God hasn't done anything to help me; why, then, would I want God in my life or believe in Him????

I'm still mad at Him.  I don't even want to bother with Him!

I see these religious zealots on television, spouting their crapola on the air; they make me sick.  They don't want to help anybody but themselves.  Take the PTL Program on the "Christian" channel.  Pompadour hair on the guys, hair piled up to the ceiling, dressed to the nines in fancy duds, sitting on gold-plated thrones, flaunting their riches to everyone that tunes in.  I know exactly where the money is going: not to help poor people here in the United States or to those who need it:  if they do get any money, it either goes to children in impoverished lands or to themselves, where they can gussy themselves up real fancy!

If you ask my honest opinion, they make me ill!

I don't associate with my wife's friends.  If I see them coming to the house after church or during the week, I run like a rabbit and make myself scarce.  I know they will want to do one thing: ask me when I am going to church.  I can't stand my wife's friends; I don't know why I even bother staying married to her!

Oh, yeah, I do:  I stay married to her because she works.  Right now she's the main provider of money in this outfit.  I am unemployed:  looking for work, but not getting anywhere fast.

We are still getting harangued by bill collectors and shit; our house is fixin' to be taken right from underneath our noses even as I speak.  Every day I live in fear of losing anything; if we were to end up homeless, then what would happen??  It's one of my biggest fears!

Well, wifey is up; she's getting ready to go to work.  As for me, it's the same old shit:  pounding the streets, in hopes that someone's hiring.  I will go now; I will write again later.  As long as you don't talk politics or religion with me (especially religion), then I'm okay with that; I just don't want to have God in my life right now; I'm happiest not having Him.  Life's too shitty to even think of believing in a Someone I can't even see; that's just plain stupid!

A lot of anger in these lines ... I, too, look forward to the next chapter in this sad person's life. :(

You are off to a good beginning... it will be interesting to see how you develop your characters, in light of their problems. Keep up the good work.

Cheers,

I imagine there are people that feel this way. What a misrable way to live with such anger and bitterness. Maybe in your story he will find some peace eventually. Nice story Karen.

Blame, why man don't "blame" God when he's got a good fortune?

We all now want to blame others for our own miseries, as our pompous politicians now hold 'Blame Hearings' for our latest environmental disaster. It now always seems to be 'someone else's fault' - Hell, I guess we may as well blame God, too.
