Kesarian Moore here.
I am happy to say I am settled here in my new home here in Ameirca; still so hard to get used to! Back home in my native Kenya, everything was slow-paced and relaxed: here, everything or everyone seems to be in such a hurry! I don't like that!
I am happy to be here: I am a lot closer to my sister, M'Buti and her husband, Roberto, and their ten children, all who live in Nashville, Tennessee. For a while I was worried that they got hurt in the flooding they recently had there, but happily, all scathed relatively unharmed, although their home had some damage; they're now back in their home; it has been repaired.
I am most thankful to God for allowing them to survive; I could have very easily lost M'Buti, her husband, or her children; it would have probably been one of the worst things I would have faced since the deaths of our parents, who were murdered naarly nine/ten years ago. I still miss them terribly and I still cry sometimes when I think of what had happened to them.
Washington DC is okay, but it is too crowded. I miss the open, wide spaces of the African savanna; I miss the quietness, the smell of nature, the very sight of animals roaming free on the plains. I miss the stars, and I miss my friends back home in Kenya; that was probably the hardest part of leaving Africa.
I wonder if my friends back in Kenya even think of me.
My brother, Naiser, is moving to America soon: he got a lucrative job offer as one of the head neurologists at a hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. That will be good because he will be very close to our sister, M'Buti. M'Buti is well, but her health remains fragile at best. She cannot walk without crutches or a brace on her one leg, and she has a lot of problems with low blood prassure (she gets dizzy or passes out a lot). I worry about M'Buti constantly, and so does Naiser.
I have met M'Buti and Roberto's children (my niece and nephews), and they are all growing like weeds. Yesterday it seemed like they were all in diapers or crawling; now they're all in school and all are doing extremely well, even the youngest three, the triplets, who are now in pre-school. They are all extremely smart; they got their parents' brains. I am very proud of them all!
I last saw them around Christmas; maybe I will see them for Thanksgiving if they will allow it. LOL
I am currently looking for work; nothing yet. Economy isn't too good here. I am praying that I will find employment soon; it is very expensive here; everything (food, fuel, health care, etc.) costs so much!! I am surprised at how high the prices are for everything! It doesn't take long for my money to run out! (I have friends here who help me by giving me some money every month; I use it to pay my bills; after the bills are paid, there's very little to live on.)
Maybe this way, I can stop depending on my friends and earn my own money; it would be a lot easier on all of us!
Well, I am going to go: my friend Steve and his wife Magnolia are taking me out to eat; they say I've been indoors too much; I need to get out and enjoy life. I appreciate their offer, but I keep telling them it isn't necessary; they think otherwise. LOL I tell them that I would do more things, but not having much money after the bills are paid doesn't leave me much; this is why they want to do this, so I can forget about the bills or money situation or the job searching, at least for a little while! Take care and God bless; I will write in here again; if I don't, then Naiser or M'Buti will; either way, you'll know what's going on with me through them if I don't write.
