Tomorrow marks the anniversary, a year ago today--
September 11, a day where blue skies suddenly went grey.
I was at school when it happened, I didn't have any clue,
But when teacher told us, we ended up feelin' scared and blue.
She told of an attack in New York City; buildings had been hit--
And when I heard of what happened, I didn't like it, not one bit!!
She also said the Pentagon was hit, and a plane had gone down;
The plane was in a field, and the news made all of us frown!
Many innocent people that day died,
And this was the day America cried.
Some people called terrorists were behind these attacks,
And when they struck, America was surely taken aback.
As a result of these attacks, America was reeling and in shock,
And all people could do was watch their television sets and gawk.
This had to be a bad dream, a living nightmare--
Before this day, we had hardly a worry or a care.
But now, thanks to what happened, America is hurting and sore,
And we are unsure of what else will happen upon our shores.
But as long as we find comfort, solace, and hope,
We WILL find a way, a way to pray and cope!
GOD BLESS AMERICA, and may He watch over her people and her shores!! And may He also bless her allies who stand behind her!!!
"NEVER FORGET!!"

Author's Note: Ronee' got to thinking about the images shown on the news about the attack; and this poem popped into her mind. She has done a lot of writing about September 11, and it has been very helpful to her emotionally. She can now talk about it, but it still makes her cry. (She knew one of the victims; the person who had died was the friend of another friend. She worked in the Trade Centers.)
