Dear Journal~
Louisiana here. Thought I'd write in here while I still can.
Bill and the children are still in bed, slumbering away, as I write this. It's quiet. Peaceful. Serene. Yet inside my heart, I am feeling anything but. It's been a long night for all of us.
Yesterday evening, around five thirty, Ronee' fell off the deck off of our back porch. As a result of the fall, she separated her shoulder, gave herself a nice concussion (knocked herself unconscious), and sprained her neck. Ronee' will probably be released from the hospital sometime later today, but she will have to use her wheelchair for a couple of weeks. Ronee' cannot walk on just one cane. Her balance isn't that steady, so this is why she usually uses two canes to walk (or, once in a while, her crutches). She will have to use her wheelchair until her body has a chance to heal itself from her fall. It was a very nasty fall, as you can see.
In additon to the scare we had with Ronee', I'm also dealing with worrying about Audrey Callaway and her daughter, Susie. Seems that Susie has been in a catatonic state, not responding to anyone or anything. It's like she is in a trance or a coma, but she is awake. Susie has had a lot of serious emotional problems (mostly stemming from past abuse as well as the memories of surviving Hurricane Katrina) and has been in and out of hospitals for treatment and/or extensive therapies. Susie is, in fact, in the hospital as I write this; Audrey and Rick have been beside themselves with worry.
I am also concerned about Wayne Wright: he is extremely close to his niece (Audrey is his sister); if anything were to happen to Susie, I don't know what he would do; he loves her so much!
Work has been crazy at best. I have been working in the emergency room lately. Yesterday (before the incident involving Ronee'), we had a woman come in. She was involved in a nasty MVA; as a result, she is currently paralyzed from the mid torso on down: she has no feeling from mid chest on down and cannot move her arms or legs. She has been unconscious since the accident; I pray that she isn't in a coma or doesn't have any lasting damage to her brain. I wonder how she is doing today; I guess she's holding her own because otherwise the hospital would have called to tell me something.
Well, I have to run: the phone rang, and it's for me. It's Audrey. She is hysterical; she says that Susie has stopped breathing. The nurses and doctors are in her room, working on her. I'd best get there and do a lot of heavy praying on the way there. I don't know what's going on, but it doesn't look good! I'm scared; I'm so scared!! I will write in here soon; take care and God bless! Be praying for a miracle; Audrey (and Susie) could really use one about now! Thanks in advance! Bye for now!
~Love, your friend in Tennessee, Louie May. :(
