Dear World Trade Centers (Long may you live on in our hearts!):
I am now 13 1/2 years old, and it has been a year since you left us and went to Heaven, along with so many innocents who didn't have to die the way they did. New York City sure doesn't look the same without your beauty gracing her skyline; it just looks so...empty. Even now I can't look at your skyline without getting tears in my eyes or a lump in my throat.
This is Barbara. (Remember me?) I am the one with the long, blonde hair..the skinny, short one. The one with the big nose, and the one with the brown eyes.
I remember watching the news last year when I saw you get hit by those planes..first your brother, and then yourself; and the big ball of fire exploding from your sides; and then seeing you fall in agony as you died a horrific death, along with so many victims trapped inside--along with those who perished while jumping to safety..but then, what choice did THEY have?? I still can't watch the news footage of the attack without feeling sick inside; I can't believe such a horrible tragedy occurred; it's like living a nightmare.
I feel nothing but sorrow and an incredible amount of sadness; I think of all those lives lost in the buildings and on the streets; and in the planes; and I can't believe it is real; but I know deep down inside that it ~IS~ real. And I can't believe some people hate America so much that they want to do physical harm to us; WHY do they hate us so much?? I still can't understand the reasoning behind the attacks, and I can't imagine what sort of sordid lives these hateful people must lead. I really feel so sorry for them!!---
It has been a year and two months since I had last seen you and your twin brother, World Trade Centers, and I shall always cherish the memory of you both. And I wear a charm of the Twin Towers on a necklace; it is ~MY~ way of remembering the victims that died.
Later on we are going to a city-wide memorial service at the Adelphia Coliseum in downtown Nashville; and many people are expected to be there. My little sister, Ronee', is expected to sing two songs during the service: "God Bless America" and "America The Beautiful". She may be little, but God has given her a gift, a gift of song, and she is blessed to be able to share her talents with others. Many people have been blessed from Ronee' 's singing, including yours truly. The governor of Tennessee and the mayor, and several other important dignitaries are expected to be there, too. You know security will be tighter than usual today; I pray to God Above that nothing happens; we don't need a repeat performance; once was ~MORE~ than enough!!
God bless you, World Trade Centers, and God bless our HEROES!
With Much LOVE (and MANY >tears<), your sad friend, Barbara (now 13 1/2). (((HUGS))) to the ~BOTH~ of you!!! YOU ARE MISSED MORE THAN YOU WILL EVER KNOW!!!! :(
