A young boy feels at home in the sanctuary at his church. He can forget of the family troubles he faces at his house.

Image of our church's Christmas Cantata (C) 2009, by Karla Dorman. (I'm the one sitting in the back with my hand raised up in the air!)

I wish I could live here instead of in my own house.

At church, I can forget of the fighting that I hear just about every night.  Mommy and daddy fight about the bills and us kids.  It's gotten me to thinking:  if they fight about us, why did they even bother having kids in the first place??

It doesn't make any sense!

I also can forget about granny and her memory.  Granny has Alzheimer's Disease; it makes her forget things.  It's really sad because it's like she's a whole different person.  Once she acted like a grandma; now she acts like we are strangers.  She doesn't even know who we are anymore.

Mommy and daddy also fight about granny and what to do with her.  Do they want to keep her at home or do they want to put her in a home for old people??

At the sanctuary, I can enjoy the music sung by the choir and the worship team, and also the preaching.  It's like God is right there in the church, and I feel happy and comforted.  I know He cares for me and my problems.

The sanctuary is where friends gather every Sunday morning for church.  I have a lot of friends at church.  I used to go to the kid's Sunday school, but I begged mommy and daddy to let me sit with the big kids and big people; I wanted to go to "big people's church".  They knew I was serious, so they let me.  I am very good; I just sit there and listen to the music and to the preacher.

I see my friends before they go to Sunday school class.  They ask me why I don't come. I tell them I want to be near God, so I sit in the sanctuary with my folks and the other big people.

I tell them I can play with them during the week; it's not like I don't see them at all.

In the sanctuary, I feel safe.  Secure.  At peace.  All is okay when I am there.  I also love it when Pastor Baxter prays for me.  He knows I am a little kid, but he realizes that I have prayer needs, so he prays for me.  It makes me feel good when he does because he speaks directly to God, and it's like Papa God is right there, with us, listening, and I soon feel better.

I just wish that Papa God can fix my granny's mind or stop my parents from arguing.  They never come up to the altar.  It's no wonder they're so unhappy.  They need a major God fix!

That sanctuary looks awefully familiar ... and so does the lady in the back row, the one with her hand raised in praise ... the one with the fuzzy hair ... LOL! Well done, Karen, didn't know you and this young boy attended the same church! =]

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
