Another member of the gang of kids from Tacoma, Washington, shares his story. "Digger" is a friend to "Dragon", "Mixer", and ""Bones".

Daniel Webster Richmond is my real name, but most of my friends (and just about everyone who knows me) calls me "Digger".  I am sixteen years old and live with my mom, step-dad, and step sisters in Tacoma, Washington.

I failed the tenth grade, so I am currently going to summer school, which sucks.  I have been going for the last week; still have three more to go.  Let's see how well I do:  if I don't do well, I might have to go to military school.  God, I hope not!!  Life is already bad enough without worrying about that!!

My step-dad is a real weiner.  I can't stand him.  He reminds me of Mr. Peepers; Mr. Peepers was this stupid guy on some old television program they've played on the Classic TV Channel, and he had big, round glasss, a soft, fruity-sounding voice, and was skinny as a rail.  He got into all sorts of crazy jams.  He thinks he knows everything when all he really does is end up screwing everything up.

Mom loves him; she thinks he is a wonderful cook.  Smart, too.  Maybe so, but I don't like him.  He always seems to find fault with everything I do, and mom usually sides with him.  I usually end up in more trouble than what it's worth.

And my two step sisters are just as bad.  Kaitlyn Michelle is on a diet kick (she's thirteen, skinny like her dad, but she's always saying "how fat she is"); as for Korin Danielle, she's 11, and is already interested in boys and acts like a miniature "ho".  She dresses in skimpy clothes and she's always sneaking out to see her latest boy-toy.  Mom's scared that she is going to either wind up pregnant or infected with some horrible disease (AIDS comes to mind ...).

You can't talk to them:  they think they know everything, and they both sport major attitudes.  I hate them both, and I hate my step-dad even worse!

The only time I get any peace is when I'm with my friends.  I have quite a few friends that I like to hang around with on weekends or when I'm not in school (or studying).  My friends range in age from twelve (Tiny) on up to eighteen (Snake, Venom, Snake, and Railroad); they like to stir up any trouble they can find.  They are not the best of kids, but they are my friends, and I happen to like them!

Last Saturday we went cruisin'; had a blast.  Didn't get home until 1 in the morning, but by then, mom and Mr. Peepers (aka step-dad) and the two mutants were dead to the world:  they didn't hear me sneak in, and they didn't suspect a thing.  It was great!

And last Friday we knocked over a senior citizen (a woman) and took her purse.  The rush we felt after we got her purse was fantastic.  She was loaded with cash (which we promptely pocketed for ourselves), and we also took her credit cards.  We plan on doing some serious shopping this weekend; Bones and Snake both have birthdays coming up.  Their birthday is on Saturday, the 26th, in just five more days.

And after that is the fourth.  We plan on getting drunk and shooting off all the fireworks we can handle.  Snake's bro has some mega fireworks, and we're going to shoot 'em off and have a regular blowout.

Celebrate our Nation's birthday up right:  get ripped and wake the neighbors up with all the fireworks going off.  Oh, yeah, that sounds like fun times!!

Well, I gotta go.  Am at school as I write this, and if Mr. Dean sees me working on my writing instead of my history, he just might chew me up and spit me back out for lunch.  If I want to live to see Saturday, I'd best vamanos outta here.  So on that note, this is Digger saying I'm outta here!  So long!
