A girl lets life get to her.

Image of sunrise (C) 2010, by Karla Dorman.

Life sucks, to put it mildly.

If there is no drama, I can't function.  I look for drama:  like worrying about school assignments/geting them done at the last minute, perhaps.  Or staying up past my bedtime (10:30 on school nights, 11 on non-school days or on the weekends) and catching up on the latest happenings on Facebook or MySpace, or worrying about family issues.

My family's a real piece of work.  Dad's in jail (assault and battery:  he punched a cop after he'd gotten involved in a fight at a bar), mom works a million hours a week (she's a nurse), and I have to watch the toads when I'm not at school (I'm referring to my little brothers; they're nine, six, and four).  Add to that, watching over a two-year-old (my mom's sister's kid; we're keeping her for a while while her mother tries to get her head screwed on right).

I also keep tabs on what is going on in the lives of my friends:  whose the latest boyfriend/girlfriend/the latest breakups, etc.  Hey, a girl has to be in the know, right?  One can't sit back like a bump on a log when there's so much juicy gossip or tidbits just waiting to be discovered and/or shared!

Now that school is out, staying in contact with my friends is even more important to me than ever.  It's better than having to watch a quartet of toads all day or sitting back, twiddling my thumbs!  I text a lot; that way, I can keep an eye on the toads and make sure they aren't going to kill each other.  (The toads, they don't get along very well, especially with their brat cousin!)

I'm just glad I don't have to put up with Dontelle's problems any more.  That girl has even more problems than me, if that's possible:  her mom went mental and ditched the family, her grandmother, who lives with them, has Alzheimer's and needs constant care, her dog bit the mailman and the mailman is now suing the family, her little sister who has CP and is in a wheelchair was causing problems at school for being disruptive during class, and her big brother got busted again for drugs.  Crystal meth.  He's in jail.  (I wonder if he and my dad are jailmates.)

It seemed that just about every day Dontelle would call, blubbering her fool eyes out.  And that was when I wasn't around her.  I got no peace.  Now I'm turning into another Dontelle because I'm turning out just like her.  I think I caught her Drama-titis or something because it's like HER problems jumped onto ME, and now I'm dealing with shit!

I just wish there was a great big ol' trash bin to dump these stupid-assed problems in because I don't think I can take too much more of this much longer!  I'd also love to dump the toads.  Not even seven in the morning and already they're screaming; they're up.  *SIghh*  So on that note, I gotta run.  I will write in here again; until later, take care!  Bye for now!

*to be continued.*

I wouldn't want all this drama in my life ... kids are forced to grow up too fast, anyway. Excellent story, Karen.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
