July.2010, Nunuvut, Canada~

Greetings from the land of polar bears, walruses, ice floes, and the night rainbow!  This is your little Inuk friend, Auuniq Titaaquaalaq, writing! 

I am doing well, especially since school is out.  Now that the weather is warmer here (temps are in the mid forties here) and the snows have all but gone, I spend more time outside with my friends Timmy, Toby, Uunaaquaaqsuk (we call him Uuna for short), and Randy, where we play stickball, baseball, or football ... that is, until Father or Mother call me in.  I love summertime the best because the days are long, and I can forget about the troubles I have had at school, with the kids teasing me.

My one brother (Quaallaaq) is going into the Royal Canadian Air Force.  He leaves for basic training at the end of next month.  I am worried because I don't want  him to go to war:  if he does, he might get shot at or hurt, or even killed, and I don't think I could handle that.  I love Quaallaaq too much!  I love Peetaq too, but Quaallaaq and I are really close.

Maybe after he gets out of basic training, he can fly one of those jets for the Canadian Air Force and do airplane shows.  I think that would be awesome!  I can then tell people:  "That's my big brother up there, flyin' one of those fancy-schmancy jets!"  :)

I know we will cry when Quaallaaq leaves, but if he can make it through the Air Force without getting shot at or hurt (or even killed), then we will be happy.  Very happy! :D

I got me a new puppy:  a little Pomeranian I named "Yappy", 'count of that he barks so much.  He is very little, as far as dog size goes, but he has a very big mouth for his size.  I think he thinks he's part Great Dane, perhaps!  Or maybe even Pit Bull or German Shepherd!  LOL  He's cute!  He's chocolate-brown with black eyes.

Well, Father wants me to help him with his traps again, so I gotta run.  I will write in here again soon; until later, this is Auuniq Titaaquaalaq saying goodbye!  Take care and may the Great Spirit bless you always!
