I don't think I will ever smile again ...
Reagan Patterson here. I am not doing so well. Lost my best friend several months back; I never knew about it until later, and I am still in a state of shock.
Reaux Delahoussaye died in the tornado that hit Yazoo City, Mississippi back in late April, almost three months ago. She was there visiting relatives when the tornado struck. She was killed when the house fell in on her. She didn't have a chance to get out. She was only ten years old, my age.
Luckily, her mother, father, three little brothers, and two sisters got out, but Reaux died. She was on her way out when the house fell in on her. It was her aunt and uncle's house. She died instantly.
I went to her funeral. It was the saddest thing I ever had to witness. To see my best friend lying there in the casket was a nightmare. I still can't sleep at night because I see her in my dreams, and I wake up shaking-scared. I haven't had a decent night's sleep ever since this happened.
And besides that, I am dealing with Johnathan and Lindsey, my little brother (seven and one). They are regular little brats. I can't stand them at times; I wish I could ship them off to Timbuktu or Siberia or someplace, so I wouldn't have to put up with their mischief!
Ma and pa are trying to help me as best as they can, but it doesn't seem to be doing much good. I still find myself crying at the least little thing. I see the color pink, hear some Cajun music, or see roses, and I think of Reaux, and I can't help but to burst out into tears. It's really awful!!
I have been seeing a therapist that helps children cope with bad events, but again, I don't see it helping me any. I just wish that I could have Reaux back in my life!! She didn't have to go like she did! That must be a horrible way to die, to get squashed like a bug by a falling house!
Well, I am crying yet again, so I'd best go. I don't know when these tears will ever stop! I am sick of being so miserable; I want to be happy again!
~Reagan. :( *tears!*
