Julie Jasmine Torres here.  Sorry for not writing; things have been crazy at best!  Hope you understand.

Mami is home; she's been home since Christmas of last year.  It's been slow, but steady progress.  Best of all, she is walking ... with crutches and braces on her legs, but she is walking on her own!!

It's been nothing short of e miracle!!

Tray, Torencio, and Trevino (my little brothers) are thrilled to have their Mami back.  So is Papi.  We have been doing everything possible to help her continue in her recovery and support her in any way possible whenever she has a setback or a bad pain day.

She has plenty of those, but they will lesson as she continues to heal, according to the doctor.

Until then, we just have to learn to be patient.  It isn't easy at times, believe me!

It is hard seeing my Mami having to rely on crutches or braces to help her walk, but it is better than seeing her unconscious in some hospital bed!  I'm soooo glad that part of our life is behind us!  We can now move forward and anticipate good things for Mami and for us!

My one brother (Tray) doesn't understand why his Mommy can no longer hold him or do the things she used to do.  He has been acting out in frustration, which only aggravates his heart problems, so in addition to dealing with Mami's health, we also have to worry about Tray because his own health isn't that great.  (He was born with something called left heart syndrome, meaning the chambers in the left portion of his heart didn't form properly, and he has problems with his heart working well).

Sometimes he cannot breathe and he ends up in the hospital.  He has had several surgeries in the past and faces more in the future.

Anyway, neighbors and friends have been stopping over to congratulate us on having our mother back home, bringing money, gifts, and food.  We tell them this isn't necessary, but they don't listen to us!  Even people from church have been visiting and praising God for his goodness to our family.

Today, speaking of church, Mami went for the first time since getting hurt, and it was a celebration of praise and thanksgiving.  Mami enjoyed it, but then she got sleepy during the meat of the sermon and dozed until church was over!  LOL  We then wheeled her to the car and took her home, where she slept a good part of the afternoon. 

She just woke up not even fifteen minutes ago.  Papi is with her.

I have since repented and asked God to forgive me for raging against Him when Mami was so sick and in the coma.  I know He has forgiven me because He brought her through, and more importantly, she is back home, where she belongs!  And she even made it to church today, which is a huge step!!

Who knows what else the future has in store for Mami and her reovery?  All I know is this:  the days ahead are going to be good because each day that goes by means that Mami is continuing to gain lost strength and make strides! 

Maybe one day she will walk without the crutches or leg braces and she can get back to the life she had before the drunk driver struck her last year!!  That would be AWESOME!!
