     An overweight kid's story.

Bryson Lowe is my name.  I am sixteen years old.

I am also morbidly obese.  Weigh well over 500 pounds easy.

I have always been hefty throughout my life on this earth, but it's really gotten out of control the past two years.  Just can't seem to leave the fast food (or eating in general) alone.  It's like a drug:  I gotta have it, or else I can't function.

It is hard for me to do things anymore.  I can't get past walking a few feet without having to stop, so I can catch my breath.  I also can't bend over to tie my shoes or put on my pants:  my younger brother, Simon, and/or my parents have to do it for me.  In addition to this, I can't find clothes to fit me unless I go to a tall men's store; I wear 5XXX in clothing.

That's how big I am.

At night, when I go to bed, I have to sleep sitting up, or else I will shut off all my air.  I have to wear oxygen because my breathing has gotten so bad.

Yeah, yeah, I know: it's all my fault.  I put myself in this position; now I have to live with it.  I have been put on a diet by my doctor, but I really don't see it doing any good:  I'm still as big as I ever was.

I'm as big as an elephant.  Maybe two elephants.

Let's face it:  I'm gargantuan!!  I'm a giant trapped in a teenager's body!

I have been put on a strict exercise regimen, but it's a struggle to do even one movement because I'm choking and fighting for air.  It's terrible; it makes me want to give up.

Worse, I have few friends.  People can't seem to look past the "fat.ness" and see me as a lazy slob when in actuality I am trying my best.  Maybe it would be easy if I put the Ring Dings or the fried foods (or the foods loaded with carbs) down.  I just can't fathom eating rabbit food for lunch or dinner; I don't feel like I've really eaten anything, and not even an hour later, I'm already starving halfway to death!

The fried and fast foods are going to be my downfall.  I can't help it.  I need something with substanance or flavor!!

People make fun of me.  I don't go hardly anywhere because I'm just not able to get around.  When I DO go anywhere I have to use a wheelchair because it's just too much of an effort for me to walk.  When it's hot and humid out, I have to use my oxygen in the daytime.  Worse than that, I start to sweat; when I do, I start to smell, and people say I stink.  They don't want to have anything to do with me.  It's a terrible way to live!

Well, I've managed to bum myself out again, so I'll go.  I will write again another time.  Until later, this is Bryson saying so long!

Yeow. What a huge story this was, Karen. (Not funny, huh?) Seriously, nicely done, my friend. A great lesson in life to be learned from this story for certain.

how very very sad! You wrote so well of his plight,Karen!
I wish he had someone to take over his care and put him on a path of learning to control himself. He is only 16 and a parent or guardian can help him do better, before he kills himself.Superb writing!

I think if I were this childs parents I would be looking at other medical solutions for that sounds more than just your typical overweight from eating junk food cases. I wonder if his parents are truly supporting or enabling him.

And fat kids are always always picked on ... not just kids, but fat people in general. Society is cruel to those who are overweight. Sad story, Karen, very well penned.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
