Colbie Colbert here. Hope this finds y'all in good health.
I couldn't be any better, especially now that I am pregnant again for the fourth time. Kaitlyn (7), Diamond (8), and Granger (2) will become big sisters and brother to another child. It is too soon to tell whether the baby I am carrying inside of my tummy is a boy or a girl.
Van and I are excited, as are the children. We are going to take the Pregnancy Express again, and we get to go through what we went through with our three previous children all over again! I'm just hoping that our new child-to-be is healthy. We already have one disabled child; we don't need another one!
Kaitlyn, our child with Down's syndrome, is doing fantastic. Her breathing treatments (and the extra oxygen) have helped her tremendously. In fact, Dr. Gee, her primoary pediatrician, says she is doing so well, he may discontinue the oxygen in a few months! And her little heart has been working beautifully since her last surgery, which she had earlier this year! Great news all around!!
She (as well as her older sister, Diamond) is (are) loking forward to the start of school in a few weeks. Diamond is going to be in the third grade, and Kaitie is going to be in the first grade, where she will probably be with the special needs kids. Granger will be starting pre-school probably within a year or two, the way things look now.
Van and I have been looking for new clothes and toys for the baby. We have enough furniture; we'll just repaint and repair the baby furniture we have now, so it can be ready in time for the arrival of our fourth child. We will have to move Granger in with the girls. They are not going to like that, but right now, we don't have any other choice.
Right now, Van and I have been mulling over baby names. So far, we have come up with Brandon, Kevin, or Caden if the baby is a boy, and Emma-Kate, Opal, or Mariah if the child is a girl. There may be more down the road, but this is what we have to work with at the present time. The biggest trick is going to be narrowing it down to one name each. There are so many names to choose from, it isn't a bit funny!!
The weather has been brutally hot here in Louisiana, and we are in desperate need of rain here in the Baton Rouge area. There have been thunderstorms about, but lately, they've gone around us, and now whenever we see clouds or hear thunder (or see lightning), we pray to the weather gods to make it rain. We are in the midst of a pretty bad drought.
In a few weeks, we will be going to the LeCajun Cajun Music Festival in Lafayette. My husband loves Cajun music, and he's always wanted to go. This year he will finally get that chance, and he is really looking forward to it. He and I are members of the Cajun French Music Association (Baton Rouge Chapter), and once a month, we go to the dances, where we see some of the best Cajun bands around. We always have the best time!
This year we are taking Diamond with us; as for Kaitie and Granger, my mama will watch them over the weekend, which will give us somewhat of a break, especially as far as Kaitie's medical needs are concerned.
