Now Will has her attention but doesn't know it. We find in this chapter that there is more to Will than meets the eye.
A few days later, Will and James walked out of US history class yawning. Their teacher, Mr. Johnson, lectured to them about the beginning of America. This subject bored the both of them so they went to sleep.
“Man I ought to skip this class and only show up for the test,” said James.
“That’s being a bad student,” said Will. “You have to stick it out.”
“Why? This is college. I can do whatever I want.”
“Well you do that. I will go to class like a good boy.”
“If you stay a good boy then you won’t be able to get with her.”
“Her who?”
“Don’t play like you’re dumb. I’m talking about that fine black haired girl in class.”
“Jordan.”
“Yes her. Bro, if you don’t stop being this good boy then you will be alone forever.”
“I’ll admit she’s pretty, but she will never go out with a person like me.”
“Come on do you really believe that.”
“Well I’m not a superstar football, basketball, or baseball player. You’ve seen Jericho. He’s the number nine rated quarterback in the country. He’s more fit than I am, he’s more of a people person than I am, and he’s had more girls then I can imagine.”
“Then you should date him.”
“Hey man, I’m not like that. I like girls.”
“Then stop describing him to me. You have something that he doesn’t have.”
“What is that?”
“You have to find out on your own. I’m going to holler at this girl. I’ll see you later.”
“Yeah later.”
James jogged towards a girl who was talking to her friend. James said something to her and she responded with a nose in the air. Will laughed at him and fell back onto a nearby bench. He shook his head and then froze. Directly in front of him about fifty feet away was Jordan. She was looking back at him starting to slow her walk speed down. For ten seconds they stared at each other intensely before she bumped into Maci, who stopped completely. Jordan looked at her.
“Why did you stop like that,” said she.
“Jordan do you have a boy friend,” said Maci sternly.
“I do.”
“Then quit walking like you’re lost. Who are you staring at anyway?”
When Will heard that he quickly got up and ran into the nearest building. When Jordan looked at the park bench to see Will gone, her facial expression saddened a little.
“Nothing,” said she. “Let’s go to back to the room.”
Maci examined her closely.
“Jordan, please tell me that you still love Jericho.”
“I love him, I really do.”
Maci examined her again.
“Whatever girl.”
The both of them started walking away. Jordan began to think about the conversation she overheard Will and James conducting. What stung most about it was when he said “she wouldn’t go out with a person like me”. Her heart started beating faster as she began to think about Will more and more until she started blushing. Macy saw this and stopped.
“Are you ok,” said she starting to fan her.
“I think I like this boy,” said Jordan unintentionally.
“You should. You and Jericho have been going steady for several months.”
Jordan looked at her.
“Yeah that’s what I meant.”
Jordan walked off humming a song. Macy stared at her with disbelief then followed suit.
That night Jordan went for her night walk. The stars were out and shining brightly. The full moon casted a hypnotic light upon the campus. She walked along the sidewalk looking at the stars. When she looked down she saw Will sitting on a bench in front of his dorm building. He was looking at the stars and singing a song. She stopped and slowly side stepped until she could not be seen or heard.

She instantly leaned against the building and sunk to her knees. Her heart was beating so hard that she felt it in her throat. The song to her felt as if he held her in his arms and kissed her passionately. She put both of her hands over her heart and closed her eyes wishing he would start singing again. James, who opened the window to look at Will as he sung, spotted Jordan. He didn’t understand what was going on but when Will started to sing again, he understood. He smiled at him and said under his breath,
“Good Job.”
Will sung the song with passion thinking about Jordan and her beauty. Maci, who was looking for Jordan, spotted Will singing and walked over to him. Jordan opened her eyes in time to see her and walk off before Maci could see her.
“Not bad kid,” said she.
Will stopped singing and looked at her.
“Thank you,” said Will looking up at her.
“You know with that voice you can score any girl you want.”
“I’ll keep that in mind.”
Maci looked down at him.
“You’re cute my dark skinned wonder, but I don’t think I want any loser. I heard what you said about yourself.”
Will was taken aback.
“Ok,” said he unsure of what to say.
“Anyway keep singing. You’ll get someone who’ll do you.”
She walked away swing her hips. James eyes followed her until she was out of view. Will shook his head and walked into the building. Jordan peaked around the corner, watching Will go into the building, wanting him to come back and sing. Her heart was beating fast again and her hands were shaking with nerves. Thoughts floated across her mind, thought that she has never thought of before. When Will disappeared into the dorm, she raced to her dorm room and closed the door behind her. Looking around at her posters, she saw Will standing next to her, holding her tightly in his arms. Then, in her mind she heard him singing that song. Suddenly there was a knock on the door. She opened it and was surprised to see Jericho.
