Clarabelle, now that we're sisters, I might as well get some things straight with you right now ...

First and foremost, I am the boss.  I am the older sister; what I say goes.  If you don't like it, too bad.  That's how we do things around here.

And if you think for a second that you are going to be tattling to mammy and daddy about every little thing, I will tell them about things you may have done.  There's no way trying to wiggle out of a situation just because you happen to be "the cute one", or "the baby" of the family!

Secondly of all, I do not want you getting into my things.  They are mine, and mine alone.  You have your own things; play with your toys, wear your clothes, read your books!  I will not have grubby little hands all over my things because if you do, I will get mad at you!!

Third, if you have a problem, you can come to me.  I know a lot about many different things 'cause I've been around a lot longer than you have.  I know how things operate.  I also speak English, and one day, you will speak it as well as me.  Until then, I will help you all I can to make your life here in America easier.

If kids pick on you because you and I don't look alike, then I will defend you.  I may have to fight to protect you from the bad kids; they don't know any better.  Don't feel ashamed because you are adopted; you are still my baby sister, and I already love you very much in the short time you have been with us.

And mommy and daddy are still your parents.  They chose you because they loved you and wanted you as their daughter.  I am so glad you are here; I have always wanted a little sister!  Now that I have one, I can't be any happier than I am right now!

As you are finding out, America is a big place.  That's okay.  I will help you adjust and introduce you to things like McDonald's.  Baseball or softball.  Going to the mall or to the movies.  Going roller skating or to the park to swing on the swings.  Feeding the ducks or petting a cheetah at the zoo.  Playing in the snow or jumping in puddles after a good rainstorm.  There's so many things to do, and I will be happy to have fun with you as you play!

If you have any worries, concerns, or questions, I'm the one to talk to.  If not, then you go to mommy or daddy, or maybe to grandma or grandpa, but I'm the main one.  I just hope you find living here with us a fun experience for you! 

Well, Clarabelle, I must go.  I have to help mommy and daddy with the car; we are going to wash it.  Do you want to help, or would you rather watch?  In any event, I am so glad we are sisters!  We are going to have many fun adventures together, and I can't wait!!
