August 27, 2010, Anchorage, Alaska~

Hard to believe that after two boys, my wife, Jenna Aurora, has given me a beautiful baby daughter.  Bella Michaela Doucet arrived yesterday, perfectly healthy, perfectly sound, with no sign of defect or disability.  She's gorgeous:  looks just like Jenna in miniature!

Kenai and Mattaq, our two boys, are thrilled with the idea of being big brothers.  They will see their mama and their little sister today sometime when Jerrica, Jenna's sister, brings them to the hospital to see them.  I am looking forward to seeing my boys, too.  Have been at the hospital for the last two days, waiting for Jenna to deliver Bella.  I'm way past the point of exhaustion!

Jerrica is boy-sitting (along with her own children) while I spend time with Jenna, so no worries about our kids not being in good hands.  Jerrica is very good with her nephews, and with her own kids as well.

Jenna had a C-section because she is so little.  All went well during the surgery.  She is currently in her bed, snoozing the day away; she hasn't had much sleep since arriving here at Anchorage Medical Center.  She looks good, although a bit pale.

I'm just relieved it's all over.  Now Jenna can concentrate on recuperating from the C-section and getting to know our new daughter.  And I can take care of them as well as Kenai and Mattaq.  At last we have the daughter we've always wanted; we are a complete family!

Jerrica has been fielding calls from friends and family, delivering them with the latest news.  They are excited that Bella is here.  I am sure that some of them will be stopping by to see Jenna and the new little member of our family!  And I am sure there will be a ton of e-mails from friends or family who live further away!

Originally I wanted to name our daughter Jole' Blon', but Jenna said no.  She told me in a flurry of sign language that our daughter does not have blonde hair so it would be silly to name her that.  She wanted Bella Michaela instead, so to humor her, I agreed with the decision; this is how our daughter ended up with her chosen mame.  Bella, because she is so beautiful, and Michaela, after me.  Still, Jole' Blon' Doucet doesn't sound bad:  it just sounds .... Cajun.  LOL  (Why not?? I'm Cajun!  LOL)

I told Jenna it couoldn't be any stronger than our sons having first names that are Inuit!  I mean, Kenai and Mattaq aren't your average, everyday names!  Jenna said that's okay; she wanted to pass on her Inuit heritage to her sons, so she did.  I told her it might have been easier had we named them Kennedy and Mason; those were nice names.  She said no; she wanted something to reflect her heritage, so we ended up calling our sons Mattaq and Kenai.

Jenna has her way about certain things; naming our children is just one of her many talents.

Well, the doctor is here to check in on my wife, so I'd best go.  Hopefully she will do okay; she seems to be.  I will write in here again as soon as I can catch a few Z's myself; I'm sleepy! *Yawn!*  Take care, and may God bless you always!
