Ice Jasmine Esquival here. I hope this finds you well.
I am doing okay; glad I am back in school, where I am a junior this year. Hard to believe that I only have one more year left after this one.
I had a pretty good summer, but I had to babysit my brothers and sisters; and it was hard. My youngest brother (Branson) is nine, and he is autistic; as for my oldest sister, she is more like a younger sister, really. At the age of 14, she is more like a baby: she is severely brain damaged. Her former parents abused her, and now she's a vegetable. She requires a lot of care.
My other brother and sister (Nevaeh and Jesus) aren't too bad, but Nevaeh is spoiled, and Jesus, he has a bad attitude. He is always threatening to run away and join a gang; he hates school, and he hates having to watch his younger brother and sister. I don't blame him one bit. I'm not crazy about it either, but I still love my brother and sister.
The only good thing is church. We go to a Baptist church every Sunday, and I sing in the choir. I love to sing; always have, always will. If I had anything I could be in life, it would be a professional singer, like my idol, Celine Dion. She has a fantastic voice! I could listen to her sing for hours!!
Unfortunately, my best friend, Erycka, moved to New York City: her dad got transferred there, on account of his job, and now I don't have a best friend. Hopefully I will find one soon; but I bet she won't replace Erycka. Erycka and I were the best of friends since we were in elementary school; it's hard to replace a friendship like that!
The days are getting shorter; why not? Fall starts in less than a week. I can't wait; I've had more than enough of this long, hot summer!! I'm even looking forward to the snow in winter!
Well, I gotta run: am in study hall, and if Mrs. Delcombe sees me goofing off instead of studying, I might get docked. I will write in here again soon; until later, this is Ice Esquivar saying adios! Hasta luego!
