An update on a family from Canada.

September 21, 2010, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada~

Bitta Magnussen here.  Hope this finds you all doing well.

Busy.  That has been the word of the day around here.  Between caring for our six children, keeping tabs on the animals (and my husband, Jans), working around the house, taking kids to their doctor's appointments, school meetings/sporting events, and so forth, it's no wonder I am ready to collapse by the time I retire for the night!

The children are no longer so little.  Tanith Grace is now ten while her sister, Danielle Marie, is two years younger at the age of eight.  And little Gunther is no longer a baby:  he is going to be four years old in November.

We have since added to our family: we now have six children.  We adopted a pair of Inuit sisters from northern Canada; their names are Peetaq and Quisak, but we have since renamed them Gabriella and Morgan.  They are six years old and are identical twins: they look exactly alike.  In addition to Morgan and Gabriella, we also adopted a two year old boy from Mexico; his name is Raymundo, and he is the cutest little thing you ever did see!

We adopted the twins two years ago, and we added Raymundo just about a year ago.  Our already busy household has only gotten that much busier, but we really don't mind; we really love all of our children!

Morgan is disabled: she was born with spastic cerebral palsy that has left her unable to speak or walk (she's in a wheelchair), but she is a very delightful child with a wicked sense of humour.  We are so blessed to have her as part of our little family; it's gotten to the point to where we cannot imagine our family without Morgan (let alone, Gabriella or even Raymundo)!

Raymundo is autistic, but he's not as bad as a lot of children with the condition.  He's doing better since he joined us, and he's becoming quite the little social butterfly!

Tanith, Danielle, and Gunther all adore their new brother and sisters, and they would do anything to make them happy.  We are very proud of our children for being so accepting of our newest children!  It isn't easy at times, but we do manage quite well.

It is the first day of fall here, and that means that in a few short weeks, the trees will be ablaze with colour.  And that also means that winter is around the corner; might as well take advantage of the cooler days/nights because once winter hits, it's going to hit hard!  Canada's winters are known for being brutal (although here in British Calumbia, it isn't nearly as bad as other parts of our country).

It also means that we will be choosing pumpkins for our annual Hallowe'en celebrations and trying to figure out what the children want to be for tricks-and-treats.  Then you have Thanksgiving, and eventually Christmas, to think about.  *Sigh*

Well, I hate to run, but it's time to feed Morgan her "lunch".  I will write in here again soon; sorry it's been so long in writing!  I will try to do a lot better next time!  Until later, this is Bitta Magnussen saying so long!  God bless and talk to you again soon!

~Love, your friend in Canada, Bitta.  :)
