I wish all guys could have a girlfriend like mine. They'd be a lot better off.
My girlfriend will be eighteen years old on Christmas Day. I have known her now for five years; we met at a festival that she was performing at, and it was love at first sight. I was taken away by the giant voice coming from such a little body, her long, luxurious Cajun-black hair, her talents as a musician/vocalist, and her outgoing personality.
Ronee' Le-Anne Reaux is everything that I could possibly want in a girlfriend. I was nervous upon asking her to go on a date, but she accepted, and we've hit it off perfectly ever since.
When one is around Ronee', one soon forgets that she is disabled. (She has juvenile rheumatoid arthritis and asthma. She walks on two canes [or crutches sometimes] and wears braces on her legs; she has weak ankles.) If anything, she could teach people a thing or two about living life to the fullest, even with having disabilities or chronic health problems. She is the most positive person I have ever met in my life, and she is usually always smiling or laughing.
Our relationship has grown to the point to where we both are considering marriage when we are older. I wouldn't mind having her as my wife. Even if she couldn't have kids, we'd still have a family by adopting. I would love to have a family by her, and I would do anything possible to make her happy and to let her know just how deeply I care for her.
I admire Ronee' so much. She has had a hard life, but her life has also been full of joy. She never lets things get to her; if life does threaten to knock her off her feet, it isn't long before she is right back upon her feet, fighting with everything she has. I don't know how she can put up with some of the things that she does, but she does it with courage and grace.
Her family is awesome. Ronee' has a million brothers and sisters (not really; she has sixty two, believe it or not!!), and her parents are the greatest. They are happy to see me, and Mama Louisiana has spoiled me with her wonderful Cajun cooking and her sweet personality. Her father, Bill, meanwhile, is the family jokester; he's always cracking jokes and doing everything possible to make me laugh.
I gotta admire a family like the Sanduskys: the parents took it upon themselves to adopt children that nobody else wanted (including Ronee'; she was adopted when she was a baby), and after all that, Mama Louisiana had twins! (The twins, Ian and Isaiah will be three years old come Thanksgiving week.) They are absolutely incredible!
If I don't see Ronee' (or her family) when I go over to her house, I see them at church (we go to the same church). Ronee' sings in the children's choir and has done a lot of solo singing on her own during the offeratory or worship time. Her entire family sings or plays music as well; this is probably where she got her talent as a singer/musician from.
I just wish that I could spend every minute with my girl. If I don't, I find myself thinking about her, wherever I may be ... at home, at work, at church, wherever. If she is sick or has to have surgery, I make it a point to spend some time with her at the hospital, anything to make her feel better or to put a smile on her face. I don't like it when she gets sick or has to have surgery, but I want to show my support and to let her know that I am thinking of her and that I care for her.
Well, I have to run. Working today; am working the noon shift. I have to be there within the our. I will write again soon; until later, this is Michael Stinkowitz signing off! God bless and take care!
~Michael. :)
