Bobbo (Bob) Brighton is happy to announce the (early) arrival of his son, who was born earlier today.

15 October, 2010, Sydney, Australia~

G'day, folks!

A very jubilant Bob Brighton writing.  Seems that I have become a father earlier than expected:  today, my wife, Tottie, delivered our child via C-section.  She did extremely well during the surgery, but mum, she's naturally quite knackered over the whole experience.

Little Trystan Robert Brighton arrived at 10:30 Australia time this morning; he weighed four pounds and 11.5 ounces.  Not quite the five-pound mark, so they popped him in the sick baby unit to make sure all is well; so far, all does seem in order, thank the Lord ...  He is a teeny little nipper, with a headful of black hair and intense blue eyes.  Looks just like his mum, he does ...

Visited him a little while ago; he's one of the bigger infants in the unit, not to mention, one of the loudest: you could hear him squallerin' down the hall on the way to the room.  I was like, "Goodnight, lad!  You've gotten your mum's mouth!"  LOL

He is also one of the healthiest.  Other than being monitored (such as the norm in the sick baby ward), he is without oxygen, without extra tubes, and he was lying in the bassenette, kicking his legs furiously and waving his arms madly, screaming his fool head off.  He looks positively bonzer!!

It's a wonder the staff doesn't duct-tape his mouth closed or that he doesn't disturb the other infants in the unit! My goodness! LOL

Tottie, meanwhile, is quite weak.  She has been sleeping most of the day.  Still is; just checked on her about fifteen minutes ago; she lost quite a bit of blood, so they're giving her some extra units via drip to bring her blood levels back to par.  She's on oxygen and looks quite pale, quite pitiful, actually.  Hopefully the next time I will see her, she will have her eyes open, so I can tell her about our new baby son.

Son.  How blessed are we?? Very blessed, I must add.  I never thought we would end up being parents!  But here we are, with a baby boy to call our own!  And what's more, other than being small, he's perfectly healthy: great colour, ten fingers and toes, and no body parts missing or out of the norm ... yes, God has been good to Tottie and myself!  :)

Suddenly the thought of being parents terrifies me ... what if we screw up royally or end up with someone else's baby when we leave hospital?  What would happen then? What would we have done if the baby had been born handicapped?

What would we have done then??  To think about this makes me ill ...

I'm just thankful to God that Trystan is healthy, and mum, reasonably so.  I just pray and hope that all continues to proceed without incident and that we will be headed home with our new little bundle of joy within a few days.  In the meantime, after I check on me love, I'm going to lie down and try to catch some z's myself.  Take care; will write in a few days.  Just keep Tottie, meself, and little Trystan in your prayers; we can really use them! Thanks in advance!  Ta-ta for now!

~Bobbo.  :)

A very touching story, Karen. "...she lost quite a bit of blood, so they're giving her some extra units via drip to bring her blood levels back to par." That is one reason why I donate blood as often as I can. Thank you for sharing. Amour et paix, ton ami de la C-B, Canada,

Regis
