Slimy. Moist. Some big enough to absolutely undo me if I see them.
Worms. I have never liked them, nor will I ever. Seems that some kids have picked up on my fear because sometime last month, some bad boys got ahold of some nightcrawlers and threw them on me.
I about came unglued.
With Hallowe'en coming up, I don't have any doubt in my mind that these kids (or any others) will concoct something to make me go into a full-blown panic attack, especially if worms happen to be involved.
You would think that my being a boy would cause me to like something like fishing or handling worms. Not so. My dad calls me a wuss; I would rather spend time holed up in my room with my video games or my books, especially on days where it's rained and puddles are about. Where there are puddles, there are apt to be worms wriggling about.
Gad, some of the worms I have seen have been as long as my finger ... and some just about as thick. It makes me cringe just thinking about these things being flung at me or having the big nasty boys chasing me with them, laughing cruelly, as though it is all some big joke!
I have two brothers, and they don't share my fear. They are like dad: they love to fish or to hunt for bait, and the bigger the worm, the better. Me, I could care less. Fishing is boring anyway, and I don't relish the idea of baiting a slimy-assed worm on the end of a sharp hook for the fish to bite. It's enough to make me want to lose my lunch, so I don't even bother going fishing.
Fishing is for the birds. My dad and my brothers can have it. Me, I'd rather spend time with my books or my games!
And people can have Hallowe'en. Too many crazy folks dressed in horror-clad costumes (or even silly or stupid costumes) acting like idiots or playing pranks, some that could prove to be harmful or even dangerous. No sir, that's not for me!!
I can't wait for the first of November! Then maybe my fear of both Hallowe'en and worms can quickly disappear!
*To be continued.* (Little does the boy in this story know what is in store for him.)
