Sydney appears to be doing a little better since the doctors have put her on dialysis, to try to get her kidneys to working properly again.
It still is scary, though, to see her hooked up to the dialysis machine, but she seems to be taking it well, all things considering. She looks so helpless and vulnerable; it breaks my heart.
Yesterday, when we saw her at the hospital, she was more alert and sitting up in bed, playing with the stuffed toy kitty we'd gotten her. She smiled really big when she saw us and wanted to give us giant kisses and hugs.
We don't know when Sydney will be released from the hospital; the doctors want to keep her on dialysis and run more tests, to see if the dialysis is doing its job. We may eventually have to have the dialysis treatments on an outpatient basis, but for now, we'll take it one day at a time. As long as Sydney is doing a little better, then we're okay with it.
The doctor says that the dialysis might do the trick. I hope so. I've been a nervous Nellie ever since all of this started last week, when Sydney first got sick. At least my husband has his job to go to, to put all of this behind him, even if only for a while. I have to think about it constantly, as well as take care of the remaining children and do my other motherly duties.
The stress I've been feeling has been incredible!
Hopefully today, when I see our daughter, she will be doing as well as she was yesterday. All I can do is pray and hope for the best, pray that God heals her and makes her better.
