I have been concerned that some of my writing has become overly verbose, so I developed an exercise in writing a story in 60 words or less...this first attempt was about 62 words.
That day in November so many years ago, still haunts me like a bad dream. Walking down the hallway going from one class to another at the small college I attended, I heard one student say to another…”man can you believe it?” “No man, what happened?” They walked a few more steps and the first guy said, “We have one less Catholic to worry about, John Kennedy is dead.”
Excellent. I started my "100 words" in similar vein after getting angry with an editor who wanted my culture stories to be limited to 800 words! Best of luck.
