The little kitten we had taken care of several weeks back is still in our office, in a cage for dying or sick animals, but compared to a lot of the animals here, the little fellow is doing much better, much to our relief.  It is eating again, and it seems to be putting on needed weight: he no longer looks so scrawny or sick.

The kitten came to us with its eyes all red with infection.  It's eyes were so crusted it could barely open them; if we tried to open his eyes, so we could have a better look, it mewled and cried in pain.  It was truly awful.  It was soon apparent that the kitten would be blind, but it didn't really take him long to figure out his way around.  

His eyes have since about healed, but he will never see again.  He would have probably already been put to sleep by now, but a co-worker was desperate enough to have the kitten (she named it Willy) put up for adoption.  Other than being blind, it is quite healthy, which is a miracle, considering what the little fellow had endured when he'd first been brought to our facility.

So far, there have been no takers in adopting Willy, but Grace (the co-worker who put Willy up for adoption) said to me just yesterday that if nobody takes Willy in, she will end up adopting him herself.  She has fallen in love with the little furball.  It's no wonder.  Willy has such a charming way about him, and he loves to play and run around.  He has such a lively personality and he loves being held and cuddled.  When people pay attention to him, Willy instantly dissolves into purrs.  It is absolutely adorable!

I am hoping that Willy will have a home in time for the holidays.  After all that he has been through already, he certainly deserves that!
