I am so sick of do-gooders, I could just scream!!
Anyone can act all holy and self-righteous. I'm sorry, but in today's world, nice just doesn't cut it. The ruder, the more horrible you are, the better (and faster) you seem to get ahead, especially nowadays.
Seems that Christmas brings out the worst of the "holier-than-thou", "I'm-better-than-you" contigent of people. I mean, they're always at their stupid churches, spreading the meassage that the "rest of us are going to hell" because we don't go to church. Well, let them do it. I don't give a flying fig. They can kiss my butt as far as I'm concerned: I don't need God or Jesus in my life! I have my own way of living, and if people don't like it, they can take the highway!
I am teaching my children not to fall into the religious trap. I tell ya, it's all a scam. They want to play upon your sympathies, and the only ones who do seem to fall into their sob story are nothing but a bunch of weak-kneed pansies and pushovers!
In my book, it's gimme, gimme, gimme, and gimme more of that! If my kids can't have the "hot item" this year for Christmas, why then they don't need to have Christmas at all! I am not about to disappoint my kid, so when I hear about the next big thing in toydom, I'm the guy who's first in line (or as near the front of the line as possible) ... just so I can get my mitts on the hot game to be or the next toy sensation. I want my kids to be happy; I don't want to see them disappointed yet again!
I think my kids have been learning their grinch lessons well. Hell, they are taking after me, their old man, the Head Grinch himself. I know what my kids want, and I know what I want. Nothing or nobody else matters! As long as I'm in charge, I'm the one who makes all the rules.
Case closed!
I am so proud of my oldest son. Just the other day, while Christmas shopping, he shoved an old lady tottering on a cane out of the way, so he could get a book he wanted. The lady fell, and people hollered; he didn't care. All he cared about was getting the book (it was one by James Patterson). When he got his prized book, he ran out of the store, laughing at the fallen old lady on the way out.
He thought he was great stuff. And he was.
Another time, my teenaged daughter (child #2) threw a duck fit because she wanted new batteries for her cell phone. She wanted to text her friend, and she had to have the batteries like right now. Never mind that it was nearly midnight at Wal*Mart, which was still crawling with people. As long as my daughter got her batteries, then that was all I cared about.
My wife is concerned that I am being a bad influence on my kids. I keep telling her that "it's only Christmas; Christmas only comes but once a year; let me splurge on them one time a year!!" I guess she sees my point, but I can tell that she thinks that I am a terrible, conceited, selfish person. Maybe so, but as I said a little bit ago, I am not going to disappoint my kids!! I want them to have the best of everything, and I will do anything (and everything) in my power to make sure that this does happen!
Call me a grinch if you want. I don't care. I just don't want to spend Christmas Eve sitting in a stuffy church full of people listen to the same old tired religious lessons year after year after year! I also don't want to spend it on the raod with a carful of hopped-up, impatient kids (and one angry wife)! I can think of better ways to spend Christmas!
