A morbidly obese man shares his story.

Guess I get what I deserve ...

Because of my lifestyle, and because of my passion for junk food, I'm now suffering the consequences.  I now weigh over 600 pounds easy, and I'm now suffering with my health as a result.

I can't get around easily, so whenever I go anywhere where a lot of walking is involved, I use my electric scooter; to walk anywhere (even for short distances) causes me to get extremely short of breath.  I have diabetes, extremely high blood pressure, and breathing problems (at night, I have to use oyxgen; I also use it if I am extremely short of breath or if it's hot/humid outside).  The cold isn't as bad, but then it gets my asthma to act up, so I have my trusty inhalers with me, just in case.

It's bad enough being fat (I have a dickens of a time trying to find decent clothes that fit; most stores don't have good looking clothes in my size, so I have to either shop at the big and tall men's store or go to the thrift stores, or I have trouble trying to squeeze my girth through skinny-assed doorways or aisles); what's worse is when people stare at me with looks of disgust on their faces, or say things about me.  That is the worst, as is hearing comics on television make cruel remarks about fat people.

They wouldn't find it so funny if they were in my shoes.  Then they would find out that being as big as I am is no joke, especially if you add health problems to the mix.

I usually stay home; if I do go anywhere, it's usually to one doctor to the next.  My parents are helping me in my quest to try to lose the weight.  I have cut down a lot on the junk food, but it is hard to find a good, inexpensive meal, and besides eating healthy is so much more costly than the convenience you have with the fast-food, drive through establishments.

I don't have a very exciting life.  Sometimes when I'm alone, I try to sneak a Hostess Twinkie or maybe a couple of chicken wings, just to satisfy my hunger (this rabbit food I'm living on is killin' me ... I eat it, but then again, I'm hungry not even an hour later!!), but then I usually get caught, and I end up getting the riot act from my parents.  Don't blame them.  I even get my ears blistered from my docs; they don't like it any better than my folks do.

I guess they think I have a death wish.  Maybe I do, I don't know; but this life that I have now is something I would not wish on anybody!  Being obese like this is for the birds, but at times, I can't help but crave my junk food!  And with it being shoved in my face constantly in advertisements and such, it just makes my quest to lose all this extra poundage that much more difficult.

Maybe I need a personal trainer (think "The Biggest Loser" on television), but then again, I couldn't stand a skinny bitch or bastard barking at me and watching my every move every time I do something.  That would just creep me out!  And I don't like people staring at me or making digs about my weight, so I just stay in and feel sorry for myself.

To be continued.~

Sounds like this young man would rather feel sorry for himself than do what it takes to make a life style change...oh my

No where close to this man's girth, but being 200 pounds ain't easy, either. :( I've GOT to lose some of this weight. For my health! Well done, Karen.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
