A teenager deals with math homework, and his poor, frazzled father feels powerless as to how to help him.

If I see one more math problem, I just might say I'm allergic and/or break out in numbers ...

I don't know what my sadistic math teacher was thinking when he assigned this shitty assed assignment.  Calculus.  Arggh!!  I might as well be taking Latin or Greek: I don't understand a g.d. thing!!

My dad is trying to help me.  He's not having much luck either.  Right now he is on the phone, cussing out the math teacher.  I don't blame him for being mad, but this better not mean trouble for me tomorrow morning! I don't want to sit in detention tomorrow just because my dad decided to be cute and cuss Mr. Rachmoninoff out about the math homework!

Up to now, I was a star in math.  I knew math forwards and backwards.  I knew math like the back of my hand.  Then Mr. Rachmoninoff decided to turn a totally different direction; as a result, I am sure there are plenty of us in his class who are scratching their heads and going: "Huh????"

Dissecting a frog or a human eye or learning about the inner workings of the Trojan horse suddenly seems easier than this stupid Calculus assignment that Mr. R. so lovingly assigned us!!

It's due tomorrow, but I see no end in sight.  I don't see me being anywhere close to being through: I might end up pulling an all-nighter if this keeps up.

Dad is off the phone.  He doesn't look happy at all.  Uh-oh.  This can't be good.  I might end up having him call one of my buddies from school; maybe he might understand something about the math homework.  God, I sure hope so; I don't want to spend all night burning the midnight oil!  I have school tomorrow; after that, I have soccer practice!  I have a long day tomorrow!!

Dad said that Mr. Rachmaninoff wants us to complete the assignment.  No excuses.  SHIT!!  Figures ... just because HE'S a member of MENSA doesn't mean that the rest of us are! Most of us are just your average joe kids or just don't give a rip about math!  (I do give a rip about math most of the time, but this Calculus stuff can just suck eggs!  I don't understand it AT all!)

Mr. R. is a sadistic torture bearer.  He loves to see kids like me sit and squirm in his class.  He loves to see us suffer until we go crawling on our hands and knees, begging for mercy!

Well, I'd better get started on this stuff before dad takes the laptop away and sees me whining about the math homework instead of actually working ON it!  Pray for me; pray something clicks on in my empty, cobwebby brain so I can get this stuff done!!  Thanks!

Changing gears is what learning is about. It's not supposed to be easy yet I confess calculus was not a strong subject of mine. Patrick

I'm a person with an attention deficit problem and suffered through math in a huge way. My father on the other hand had a patience deficit problem and I remember sitting along side of him at the kitchen table trying to absorb what he was trying to get me to absorb as all the while I could almost hear him gnashing his teeth. I so sympathize with this kid.

Perhaps he suffers from Dyscalcula! Boy I know the math frustrations well, that always affected me more than my Dyslexia, but there is hope if things are done right!!!
