Boomer, the little Pomeranian that has been under our care for the past several months or so, has healed considerably well, but he's still as shy as ever.  Don't blame him: if I had been treated the way he was prior to his coming here to our clinic, I wouldn't trust any human either.

Boomer was burned about the face and came to us with his fur matted with feces and urine; he smelled very bad.  We had to cut a lot of his fur off, so we could get rid of the mats; he looked pretty decrepit for a while, but now his fur is starting to grow back nicely: he looks more like the little Pomeranian he is instead of a shelter dog.  He was brought to us by animal welfare personnel; he was then two months old.  He's now nearing six months in age.

We have been feeding him and giving him clean water several times a day.  Good thing the little fellow has a good appetite; otherwise, we would have put him dwon long ago, when he'd first came.  Now he has a chance for a future; we are currently trying to find an adoptive family for him before we have to put him down because nobody cared enough in adopting Boomer.

Time is of the essence.  Who wouldn't want this beautiful little guy with the big dark-brown eyes and the perky little ears and tail that curls upon his back?  I know if I could, I'd take him, but I don't think my surly male tomcat, "Spike", wouldn't relish the thought of a canine invading his property!

We are trying to work with the little fellow, trying to teach him that not all human beings are bad.  There are plenty of people who would be glad to love him or have Boomer as part of their family.  All we can do is pray and hope that someone does come forward to take him before it's time to have to euthanize him.
